I'm coming to the end of my final week of 3 at the Village and must say it's been fantastic. From the staff; to the food and the rooms (and Ruby, the pub dog). You know when you've stayed somewhere to long when the locals want to talk to you about village cricket! I have stayed in both a double... More

Findon Village probably has more watering holes and places to eat per head of population than anywhere else on the planet and, without a doubt, the ‘VH’ is currently top of the tree. It may have lost some of its atmosphere from 20 years ago, when it was the favoured haunt of the lads from the local racing stables, but... More

This hotel is an old (AD 1527) coaching inn and is a beautiful old building. We stayed 3 nights and although it is a bit noisy when patrons leave the pub premises it went very quiet after about 11pm, even at the weekend. Bed was a 4 poster and very comfortable and the ensuite modern and clean. The owner was... More

Very welcoming staff, lovely breakfast and thoughtful too as had candles in the toast for our friend's birthday today! Nice touch! Thank you Paul and Amy. Lovely garden to enjoy a drink in the sun too! Even customers are friendly - loved it!

Welcoming helpful staff in this pub/restaurant with rooms. Lovely setting in this pretty narrow-laned village. You don't expect the Dorchester in pub rooms, but these are badly in need of refurbishment. Yellowing paint, tatty decor, generally looking unloved. Room and pub were as reasonably clean as it's possible to be with old stained carpets and ageing paint and wallcoverings. Linen... More

We're down in West Sussex on holiday and popped into the Village House Hotel (or The Villager as the locals refer to it as) for an afternoon pint. Absolutely superb. We sat in their lovely beer garden and had a couple of pints of Harvey's Sussex Bitter which were amazing. They obviously have a great cellar man as it really... More

We had the most AMAZING roast at The Village House today! It has to be one if the tastiest I have ever had! Thanks Oliver and team! It is very rare that I get a Sunday off so the food today just made it perfect :-) also a bonus to be able to sit in the lovely garden, peaceful and... More

I have never stayed here but I know the rooms are lovely as I have heard from lots of people. This is just really a comment on the food. This is an amazing place to eat and you will find yourselves coming here again and again. It is exactly what a Sussex pub should be like. Fresh food from local... More

Having checked various review sites, the Village House Hotel appeared to be rated good to excellent. The few 'poor' reviews were tempered with management responses that the tired rooms were soon to be refurbished. Despite these assurances in both 2010 and 2013, the rooms our party stayed in were not great. The rooms were still a drab yellow/brown, the lighting... More

Another b&b booked by Crown Fire Services Ltd, The staff at the Village Hotel are very welcoming, offering to carry my bags. The double room number 2 is a really nice room to relax after a long day at work, plenty of coffee and milk unlike most places I've stayed, the shower is really powerful, theres nothing like running around... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Village House Coaching Inn is nestled in the newly formed South Downs National Park, at the heart of the picturesque downland village of Findon, near Worthing and was first mentioned by name in the 'Findon Chronicles' in 1527 when it became the property of a Mr Thomas Beret. Since then the building has seen many changes of use and has been a private house as well as a convalescent home for the well heeled of London (no change there then). In the 1930s the Village House became a guest house and tea room - a recently found advertisement dating from this time boasted of... en pension terms of 2 ½ guineas to 4 guineas per week-according to room and season... and... rooms with such modern conveniences as electric light. Today our rooms still retain their old world charm and atmosphere, but we try to offer a little more luxury than in the 1930s. If you love walking, we are ideally located for both the South Downs and Monarchs Way, which both offer fantastic views across the south downs and Sussex coast. If golf is your passion there are two challenging golf courses nearby, or if it's horse racing, then Fontwell and Goodwood racecourses are within easy distance. Findon is also the home of the Gifford Racing Stables who produced the famous Grand National winner, Aldaniti. ... more   less
