We made the mistake of holding my mum's funeral tea here in May 09. My dad's 10 years earlier was really good (different owners) but this time..... a) Venue: we were led to believe that we would be holding the reception in the conservatory – a nice bright room with good standard of furnishings and décor. Instead we were placed... more

We were attending an evening wedding reception at The Manor Hotel (congratulations Jon & Linzi) and we stayed for one night. Before we stayed we read the reviews and were a little apprehensive, but we arrived at the hotel at 2.00pm and our room was ready to go straight into. The room in the main house was very clean and... more

We stayed for 1 night, 2 adults 1 child. We booked a family room. The room was large as was the bathroom, which was lovely. The room was in need of a lick of paint but was clean and there were plenty of white fluffy towels. My only real complaint was that we booked a family room and the room... more

This hotel certainly doesn't live up to its own advertising. We were 'greeted' by the duty manager who appeared to have used the TV series 'Fawlty Towers' as his training guide. Unfortunately he had neither the charm nor the wit of Basil. The first room we were offered was in the annex, was set up a a single despite our... more

I cannot understand what the other reviewers are talking about but maybe I am post refurb. This is a well appointed lovely hotel a converted manor house. It is old school - no designer gimmickry. I have stayed at the Waldorf in London and can honestly say that was no better. The staff could not have been more friendly and... more

We were in the annexe. In the annexe the good points were the bed which was comfortable and lots of hot water. The corridors smelt damp, the decor was poor and there were piles of laundry in the entrance. The bathroom was poorly cleaned. The TV had poor reception and no radio reception. The bedroom furniture was poor, no drawspace.... more

Just returned from a lovely weekend break. After reading other comments we were a bit apprehensive of what we would find, after normally choosing other big chain Hotels, (Marriott etc). Our room was in the annex, which we found pleasant overlooking a courtyard, nice and clean, looked recently decorated, with a nice size bathroom, lovely shower (again this looked new).... more

Manor Hotel is an old house, with a charming patio/garden in which you can relax... The problem is when you came in... it is an old place with lot of corridoors, lot of stairs, no lift and it was hard to bring up the luggage!! No luggage-service!!! When I booked the Manor Hotel I decided for a room in the... more

Head office booked this hotel whilst I was conducting training for the week as it was not far to go- they will however NOT be using the Manor again for accomodation. The reception is not manned permanently by anybody so you keep pressing the bell and are left to stand there waiting to check in and out or request another... more
