My wife and I spent a lovely two night weekend at the Westminster on May 30 & 31st. The hotel is in a lovely location within Buxton overlooking the lovely Pavilion Gardens. The front door opens direct onto the pedestrian walkway through the gardens and direct to the town centre. In the other direction, 1/2 mile away, there is Solomons... More

We were delighted to be given room 4 at the front of the hotel. Fabulous view overlooking the wonderful Pavilion Gardens which are very special. Large comfortable room with big en-suite bathroom (bathroom more than adequate but could probably do with a 'face-lift') Full English breakfast was excellent. We didn't use the honesty bar but it was an appreciated facility... More

Our first time in the peak district and staying at the Westminster was perfect. The hotel is situated in a beautiful spot overlooking the Pavilion gardens. It is a very central location meaning that you can easily walk to the pubs, restaurants, poole cavern and Buxton Opera House. The hotel has lots of character, built in the 1800's and is... More

My hubby and I spent a four day weekend here in April and it was lovely. The decor in the reception/lobby is old, but the building has great character. And the location is perfect, we parked the car and spent most of the time walking. But the true asset of this hotel is the staff. So friendly and attentive and... More

The Westminster is a lovely hotel located right in Buxton Park with wonderful views and ideally located for the town centre being just a short walk. Breakfast was lovely and very generous portions. Would certainly stay again.

I was pleasantly surprised with the location of the Westminster when we arrived - it's situated on the edge of the pavilion gardens, which were lovely, especially in the sunshine! Walking into town takes about 15 minutes so it's extremely convenient. My first impression of the hotel wasn't fantastic - it looks a bit dated outside and in but don't... More

Found this hotel on Laterooms. Very good value. Loved the Origami novelty of the towels. Beds were clean and comfortable. Plenty storage. Adequate tea and coffee supplies. There wasn't enough electric sockets and they were not easily accessible being under the dressing table and behind the bedside cabinet. We had to unplug things in order to plug in our own... More

We stayed for 2nights at this hotel. Location was perfect and the welcome I have to say was very friendly. On entering the hotel I felt it was a bit dated and was hoping the room was going to be good as we were booked for 2 nights ! We had a front bedroom over looking the gardens which was... More

A large Victorian villa set in a park, within 5 minutes walk of the Opera House and town centre. Room was large and clean, with effort put into arranging the towels in a decorative way. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Hotel was quiet for a nights sleep., There is parking at the back. Decor was rather dated and tired looking... More

We had a large room at the top of the house - good beds, clean, quiet and everything worked well. (Note no lift) Breakfast was very good in real English style though the hours , 8 to 9 in the week, seemed a little restrictive as holiday makers. Parking easy. Access to Buxton very easy. Competitive pricing. Friendly.
