Stayed here for 1 night only, hotel is in a good location for the town centre, only a few minutes walk.It is very dated decor wise but clean and welcoming. We stayed on a DB&b basis.Again the dining room is dated but pleasant and the food was of a good quality if not exceptional. All the staff are very young, extremely helpful... As I have mobility problems the downstairs bedroom was good although felt the wet room could do with a bottle of bleach on the floor tiles. The breakfast was excellent. Good location for Buxton and our room was very quiet at night. Unusual to have sheet and blankets. Generally felt the hotel could do with some TLC in some areas.

Alison Park Hotel Doubt it was intentional but, especially after fraught journey, disappointing that friendly fellow on reception didn’t carry any of bags, necessitating 2 trips to and from lift. All staff otherwise friendly and helpful. Recently decorated in areas seen (including bedroom), but otherwise a touch shabby(some indelible stains on carpets, etc). Generally very clean (although, strangely, dead fly... More

Fantastic location, close to the centre of this charming Peak District town. Food was a highlight, both breakfast and our evening meal. The rooms were clean and well-sized. We felt the hosts, and wider staff, were willing to do anything to meet our requirements typified by ensuring meals were free from nuts for our eldest son who suffers from an... More

A little unprofessional when receptionist produced bookings in a Kit Kat box, however she was very friendly and informative. Car park small but there is road side parking. Our stay was in room 203, 2nd floor, and quiet for road facing. It was clean, spacious enough for longer stays. All staff were polite and friendly, Good food and choice, ample... More

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Personally I like 203 too. We do have a lift if the stairs were getting too much. More

Just had a very comfortable one night stay in this spotlessly clean hotel, the room was spacious and overlooked the beautifully kept gardens, dinner was lovely and the breakfast delicious. We had planned to explore the local bars after dinner but the weather defeated us instead we had a very pleasant evening in the hotel's relaxing bar area. This hotel is... More

As some of the previous reviewers have commented, yes the decor is a little dated but the room was clean and spacious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the meals provided very good indeed. As a value for money break it cannot be faulted. The location makes it easy to walk into both the town and parks.

Spent one night here for a time in Buxton and surrounding area. Nice old building and friendly staff. Bedroom was cosy and more than acceptable. Evening meal and breakfast were both nice, with a good choice. Would stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed here for our anniversary for a nice quiet get-away. Looking from the outside, it is a stunning Edwardian-style building and a very well-maintained exterior. Inside the experience is a little different; the interior resembles something I saw in my childhood; horse brasses, old-style lamps and wallpapers, and the same carpet that my parents bought when I was a... Simply put, I loved this place. Others have commented that the decor needs updating, but I thought it was wonderful. The style definitely felt vintage (or, as others have said, dated), but it was clean and warm and inviting, and I loved its charm. It's definitely not a modern, streamlined, sterile hotel, but it's beautiful and personal and one of... More
