We booked an all inclusive dinner bed & breakfast package staying in the attic flat, to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed before 18 months ago and love the hotel but am afraid to say we were a bit disappointed this time. The attic flat carpet was ripped and a health & safety hazard and the area is looking very... More

We have Visited 'The Old Hall' several times before and it never lets you down. Friendly staff, excellent food, particularly the breakfast. The restaurant has a pleasant view up 'The Slopes' . Ask for a window seat particularly on a sunny day. The hotel is ideal for a theatre break when visiting the Opera House. Will definitely visit again.

I do like coming back here, mainly because of the staff. In all honesty the hotel is looking a little tired in places but its an old hotel. great location for visiting the peak district and Chatsworth. good solid restaurant menu, nice bar food and a good breakfast.

A most pleasant 2 days in Buxton, we overnighted at the Old Hall. The hotel is built on different levels with many interleading corridors and is so delightfully old and historical that no floor is level but gentle slopes are everywhere evident! We had a very comfortable room with lovely ensuite, a view over the elegant Buxton Opera House and... More

Dined in the Whine (sic) bar at the above old established Buxton Hotel for a pre booked family gathering of 12 people on Sunday 8th September and it was poor. One meal purporting to be a chicken pancake in a piquante sauce was a dry piece of under-cooked chicken in a wrap which would not have been out of place... More

It really is and Faulty Towers is a good description of the overall hotel amenities. Be prepared for a fun time of negotiating uneven floors, several up/down steps and quirky plumbing. It's a fun place since Mary Queen of Scotts was once a visitor. Excellent service and food to boot.

We chose the Old Hall Hotel as our base for exploring the Peak District with our two dogs. The hotel was the most dog-friendly we've ever stayed at - no extra charges and very little rules and restrictions apart from obviously not allowing them in the dining room! Finding good quality hotels that accept dogs is very difficult and we... More

I have stayed here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The accommodation is lovely and the food excellent. I will make mention again of the delicious home cooked chips, a real treat. The management and staff are truly pleasant and helpful. A lovely place to stay, I will always recommend Old Hall.

We went with a group of friends and we had rooms all over the hotel so we were able to swop experiences of the different types . We had a room with sloping floors and walking around it was a tricky matter as there was so little space whereas others in the party had flat floors and room to move... More

Ideal location for the Opera House which wasthe main purpose of the stay. Allocated Room 16 on check-in and eventually found it tucked away at the back of the hotel. This room overlooks a flat roofed area with several skylights and a large building with the majority of it's windows boarded up. The worst thing about the room was the... More
