this "wine bar" really is a bit of a joke, yes they serve wine but mainly the common wines ant the food is more like any pub grub, fish and chips, sausage and mash, pie and chips. There are too many tables to be comfortable and the staff in the wine bar are slow and not really interested. No body... More

Really lovely traditional style hotel right on the heart of Buxton, would stay here again. Right opposite the gardens and opera house and less than 5 minutes from the center of the town. Friendly helpful staff.

Have just come back from a night away here wih some friends and it was a lovely weekend. We stayed in the Attic Flat and it meant we could all be together. It is a very old and quirky hotel with evidence of years gone by,e.g. The Orchestra pit. The staff were very helpful and couldnt do enough for us... More

We stayed at the Old Hall for 3 nights in March with our two dogs. The room was fine, not big but the bed was a very good super king size and very comfortable, there was just about enough space for the dog crate. The staff were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure... More

Thank you for your review. We are in a perfect location for dog walkers as there are beautiful walks all around the hotel as we are in the heart of the Peak District. I am happy to see you took advantage of our fantastic Winter Warmer offer. It was once again very popular during 2014/2015. The menu was a set... More

Indeed it is - whether its the stone door cases to each room, the lincrusta frieze, or the huge bay windows festooned in heavy drapes, this hostelry imposes its unique character on the visitor. Then the uneven floors and huge encased beams. The Hilton it is not. We wondered if we would sleep well. Mary Queen of Scots stayed here... More

We stayed here over the Easter weekend. At £99 per night, it was good value *for Buxton* on a bank holiday weekend, but generally we felt the hotel over priced. Although it has a lovely historical charm (reportedly the oldest hotel in the UK, it was built for 'people of status' visiting the spa town, and notably Mary Queen of... More

A wonderful historical hotel with an abundance of charm and character which is ideally located directly opposite the beautiful Pavillion Gardens. There is ample car parking space at the front door at a very reasonable £3 per day.We requested a large room as we travelled with 2 small Border Terrier dogs and we were so surprised to be given a massive... If you are looing for hitory in Buxton, look no further. Lots of history here, friendly helpful staff. The pillows in our room were no comfortable and would have been better if the room had a king sized bed. Breakfast was ok but nothing to rave about . The fruit was dissapointing .
