I stayed here with a group of friends for a walking weekend. The hotel doesn't look much from the outside and the communal areas have plenty of "personality" but don't be put off! Our room (we christened it The Madonna suite) was clean and had everything which we needed. The bathroom was great with a powerful shower. Rooms were £60... More

We stayed here because it is close to Peak district hiking trails. 7 min distance till city centre through park. The pub downstairs didn't disturb us in 3rd floor. Room was surprisingly very warm :) Spacious room. Well presented bathroom with shower and bath.

Arrived Sunday 5 April...this hotel is only a 3* it is very quirky and is not kept in the best of decor, however our room was a little dusty but well presented with excellent tea/coffee facilities , hairdryer and bathroom gifts accommodated for...bed was comfortable and we had a great nights sleep..no breakfast provided so we ate at the cafe... We stayed here for one night in December. The decor was horrific, dated, weird and dirty. The kids were nearly too scared to sleep there! Strange pictures all over the place, decor from the 1970's and spooky string puppets! I would NOT recommend this place at all!!

The clean room is pretty much the only good thing I can say about the Buckingham. After looking through the hotel's photo gallery, I was expecting to find a fairly decent restaurant and a bar with a variety of traditional ales. This was not to be the case....Kitchen is closed and therefore the restaurant is not in operation and the... More

I don’t think my family will forget this on quickly. Frankly the Buckingham is a dung heap and not a hotel (if you can call it a hotel) that the Hyacinth Buckets of this world would taken up residence. Cheap, yes. Clean, ‘ish’. Dog friendly, yes. Well located, yes. Parking, Yes… But fundamentally appalling. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t... More

This has been my favourite hotel in Buxton but not now. It is quirky - and I've liked that. It is good value - and i like that. It has had a good range of beers - and I liked that but it no longer does. It has done good food in the bar and the restaurant - but it... More

We stayed here for one night with friends as going to see Paul Carrack at the opera house. Although tired the rooms were spotless as were the bathrooms. We all slept very well as a quiet hotel. This place could be a gold mine in the righthands. They don't serve breakfast but we found a great cafe just down from... More

We were initially surprised at the run down ambience of the place but actually everything was clean and fit for purpose, just a bit unusual that's all. We wanted a cheap place to stay in Buxton near to the centre and that is what we got. So no complaints from us. The only minor niggle was the bar only had... More
