Stayed here for the 2nd time, so was not phased by the 'quirky' decorations or the Basil Fawlty tariff at the front door. The room was plenty big enough, and clean. The communal areas could do with some sprucing up. I used to run a hotel, and two ladies kept coming every year because of the crisp sheets. Sliding into... More

We have stayed here twice now and both times enjoyed it. If you want a 5 star luxury hotel- this isn't for you. . If you want a warm comfortable hotel, friendly staff and plenty of quirky things to make you smile - then don't hesitate to stay here. Rooms have complimentary tea tray and toiletries. Hotel is within walking... More

Stayed here in attempt to not break the budget. Bit of an odd place, not sure what effect they were going for. Floral wallpaper and posters for shows everywhere, photos of actors in the rooms, beer mats on doors. My en suite (6a) was small but adequate. Bathroom cramped but with a bath and shower over it. Decor faded and... More

Just arrived back (1st Nov 2014) from an overnight stay at the Buckingham Hotel with two other couples who were attending a Northern Soul Do at the Pavillion Octagon. From reading the last review the hotel have invested in new carpets, certainly in our room on the third floor and our friends who were spread out over the second and... More

I turned up in the evening to find out I had been charged a different amount than the one discussed. I said that it was not what I was quoted. Man on reception said, : there it is,,,,, take it or leave it. I said I wished to check this price and was told "no manager here now obviously, email... More

stayed here two weeks ago. For £60 would have liked breakfast to have been included. Room was clean, despite mould in the shower cubicle. Badly needs updating and smells terribly of age. Cigs, dirt, you know that smell when you take up an extremely old carpet that dogs have slept on. Friendly enough staff although bar staff just tread on... More

Quite an interesting hotel. The car park is a good size. Therefore parking should not be of any issue. The wifi in the hotel is also very good. There was 5 of us staying over. The rooms are generally quite large. The bathrooms are equally as large and very clean. I found the whole concept of film stars adorning the... More

We booked to stay here, but for reasons beyond our control, had to cancel. The room was cancelled three days prior to our stay and therefore well within the two day free cancellation period. But the hotel simply took our money from thee card and said we'd cancelled too late. The hotel then failed to respond to emails and only... More

Stayed one night in the hotel. Throughout the hotel there were pictures of films and co. And all explanations, menus, ... were written in the same theme. Had a nice stay and the family room for 4 had a great bathroom. Kids loved the free standing bath. I enjoyed the daily happy hour with pints from £2.25. Certainly back for... More

We were shocked upon entering the reception hallway as it smelt like those charity shops that you walk straight out of Lady at reception was lovely It is a quirky bizarre place that has masses of untapped potential and is crying out to be cleaned and redecorated We walked into our room and would have walked back out again had...
