We had three rooms for the weekend so that all the family could get together. Parking available a the hotel, or on the road by the park, no problem. Check in and staff polite and friendly. Rooms spacious with an odd assortment of furniture. Walls adorned with pictures old movie stars. I enjoy Bruce Willis in films, but perhaps not... More

the room and hotel is covered in strange photos. It is in major need of a refurb unless you're into a different jazzy carpet every 10 steps. The bed needs throwing out the window, I would've slept better on the floor and it's never nice hearing the person in the room above going to the toilet. I get that this... More

This hotel is a beautiful building but in need of updating. The furniture in the guest areas is really tired and dated. However our room was spotless clean with a lovely bathroom that looked like it's been recently modernised no bath but a shower cubicle. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room and as it was January and really... More

The Buckingham hotel in Buxton although a very lovely building is in need of a good clean . The room is out dated although comfortable bed which seemed new the deco is possible it's not been changed since 1984 . The floor above creeky and the stair cases held up with something that didn't look overly safe The bar was... More

Thankfully we only stayed for one night ! The outside of the hotel looks amazing but the inside.. It's incredibly old fashioned with celebrity photos everywhere. Our room was small and my first impression was not a good one, the bed was dressed in extremely old fashioned clothes. And the room smelt damp. One one the bedside tables draw was... More

Bad points, Old fashioned, no breakfast or dinner served, tatty decor in rooms, shower grout mouldy, sink cracked. Good points, Cheap, cheerful, honest, loads of parking, central location, attached bar with reasonable prices, quirky decor and in easy walking distance to Buxtons nightlife. Its our 2nd stay and we will probably go again. Oh and the bed is lovely, warm... More

My partner & I booked this hotel as a last minute NYE getaway. The reviews are fairly accurate & prepared us well. It's a strange place, quirky & desperately needs a facelift. We had a room with 7 pictures of Kevin Costner on the wall. It was a little grotty & the decor is shabby. That said, the staff were... More

Don't stay here, unless there is absolutely nothing else available. The hotel was dirty, the room smelt bad, and the chocolate wrapper from a previous guest was still down the side of the bed. We had no blankets on the bed, despite it being December, and there were none in the cupboards. Staff eventually came up with a bedspread -... More

I have previously stayed at this hotel. It was tired before, but it then had the advantage of a functioning dining room which provided one of the best breakfasts ever, and also very good dinners. It is, however, very close to the Opera House. I suppose that it's value for money, but I won't be staying again.

Booked one night at this hotel, arrived to a smiley face at the reception, just needed a bed for the night, which is what I got, I got room 5, I had a little wander around the hotel, which wasn't too bad, in a nice way, all the staff keep to themselves, whenever you travel you just want some peace...
