Spent two nights at The Buckingham. Great location, literally two minutes walk from everything and there is parking on site. The family room was huge and you pretty much had all you needed. Due to structural problems the hotel does not serve food. There was a bit of dust in the corners but the most important things like the bedding... More

Free parking at hotel and very convenient for Festival and town centre. As they are preparing to close for a complete rebuild, not surprisingly the building is tired and they are not able to offer breakfast. However our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We mostly got the WiFi so we were entirely happy with our 4-night stay for opera... More

If you manage your expectations you will be happy with your stay at the Buckingham. The hotel is in a great location. It was not obvious enough when booking that breakfast is neither provided or available. The cleaners are clearly not supervised and the 'easily removed' scummy mould in the otherwise nearly new shower was - well - very disappointing... More

Well it was a very last minute booking all that was left really and not surprised, the place has a picture of Basil Fawlty at the front door speaks volumes, it's falling down and for all it has planning permission going through I think it should have closed ages ago our room had cracks in the walls the bathroom floor... This would be a great hotel. Unfortunately it is not- the decor is shabby but in no way chic, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was unhygienic, but everything is so dilapidated that it seems that way..... Peeling wallpaper, tatty net curtains, no food at all.... You pays your money and you takes your chance as they... More

The hotel is situated near Pavilion Garden, making it lovely for a family visit. It is an old building. Even though the aisles inside hotel are quite gloomy, the room is nice. The great thing is, you will wake up in the morning with the soothing sound of birds.

I stayed in Buxton while on a business trip to the HSL. The Buckingham Hotel was a great location for my stay. The location was convenient for getting around town. The pub at the hotel was most welcoming. I was able to meet up with travelers from far and wide. It was an enjoyable experience. The English style breakfast was... More

The quirkiest hotel you are ever likely to stay in. Yes it's tired and a little rough around the edges but that's all part of its charm. Me and my wife have stayed in both the 'lizz hurley and 'John Travolta themed suites' (yep not kidding...Literally p) and they were both really comfortable rooms with bags of character. Location wise... More

Absolutely awful hotel, was so bad we didn't even one night out of the two! Had to attempt to book a different hotel late at night to avoid sleeping there. Building in dire need of renovation, attention and overall raising to the ground. Quirky little place and couldn't decide whether the lift or the stairs were the safer option, eventually... More

The Buckingham Hotel is very, very dated and looks like it has not changed much since the 1980s. Service is friendly though very limited (no kitchen so no breakfast, limited hours, one guy on duty doing everything) and the rooms are comfortable but very very tired. We stayed for a couple of nights and to explore the Peak District so... More
