Stayed for three nights with one year old daughter. The room was clean and was worth the money. The hotel staff were very friendly and they have a quiet reading room downstairs which was a hidden gem. Breakfast was filling and there was plenty of food on the plate. All of us enjoyed our stay and would go back again,... More

I have spent a single night while visiting the Peak District. The location of the hotel is good within Buxton, the building is interesting and the staff was friendly. The room was themed after an actor, which is quirky yet somehow charming. The bathroom was narrow but functional, with no surprises. The furniture seemed a bit tired, but arriving after... More

We knew what to expect from previous reviews, but this suited our needs for an overnight stay that wasn't too expensive. It is in a great location and we had a friendly welcome. We were in room 8, the 'Sean Connery' room which was quirky but comfortable and clean and the bathroom was nicely done out. The major downside is... More

Hotel location is excellent. Buxton opera house and gardens just across the road. Buxton shops just a few minutes walk away through the pretty gardens. Hotel itself needs a good renovation. Interior looks tired. Our room was a good size. Bed was uncomfortable. Shower water pressure was nonexistent and cubicle too small. Felt room price was too dear and didn't... More

Stayed here for one night with the wife. I can't say anything too bad or really great about the place, it serves it's purpose. The location is great, near to the town centre and with free parking. We were only using the hotel as a base for our visit to Buxton (lovely town) so didn't use any 'facilities' as such.... More

This is a quirky hotel. I have now stayed there three times and it would be my first choice every time I stay in Buxton. Good beer in the bar at reasonable prices. Excellent bar meals - I like the pasta with chorizo so much I have had it four out of five times I have eaten there. I have... More

A double room, 2 nights for 2 retired adults with dogs. Cost: £124.50 plus meals. Good Points: Good location in walking distance of town centre, Opera House, Pavilion Gardens etc, in a lovely part of beautiful Buxton. If you have dogs, close for walking them in the Pavilion Gardens opposite or the Serpentine, 100 yards from the hotel on the... More

The Buckingham is an old hotel which is ideally situated at the edge of wonderful parkland, a few yards from the swimming ol, and not much further to the Winter Gardens and the fabulous Opera House. Activities galore, an annual opera festival with its own fringe and literary events. Buxton is an ideal base for enjoying the peak-district,not too far... More
