Such great value - premier room must be an advantage. The staff really do enjoy their roles - a superb team attitude and with efficiency! It's a must for a few days and great platform fir your stay in Buxton.

We loved this hotel - yes you can see how it would have been in its heyday and is now somewhat 'faded glory' but it's gracious, warm-hearted and lovable. The staff were excellent, very friendly but professional. We'd booked with Laterooms - a very good rate - and I'd expected a small room round the back, but we had a... More

Stayed in Room 116, first floor, for 3 nights from 8 August. A premier room with a lovely view over the town, very comfortable beds, a large ensuite bathroom with plenty of towels, and a flat screen tv. Imagine my surprise when I read a review of this very room, while I was staying in it! Suffice to say, this... More

The hotel's location is very good; the exterior is very appealing but our overall experience was not so good. The window in the bedroom didn't open very far so the room was hot at night (ambient temperature not that high, so would have been a real problem in a heatwave), which was exacerbated by the thick duvet on the bed.... Before going to the theatre we had drinks first , then lunch at the Palace Hotel. The table linen and cutlery was spotless. Unfortunately the apron ( black ) of one of the waitresses was decidedly grubby. As the girl was friendly and pleasant I didn't have the heart to mention it. The food was plentiful ( very nice bread... More

The owners of this hotel (past and present) and the AA for that matter should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Whilst I appreciate that refurbishment is expensive, at the moment, guests are being conned into thinking that they are staying at a 4 star hotel. The rooms are just about OK, but need to be completely redecorated. However, there are... More

Booked this hotel because we were going to The Opera House to see a friend perform in H.M. S. Pinafore in the G&S Festival. The position of the hotel for the town was first class! It was 2 miniutes from the Theatre & 3-4 minutes from the town and park. We had booked, through Superbreaks, a two night break which... More
