Room standard very poor needs plenty of TLC. The little things missing no biscuits limited tea/coffee supply. Same in bathroom not enough toiletries. Extractor fan and heated towel rail not operative.Very small bathroom with dangerous marble washbasin. Not really good value for money. Very expensive for what you get. Very limited channels on TV.At £105 per night they still charge... more

Thank you for your comments, our heated towel rails are run from our central heating system which we did not have on during your stay as it was quite warm in the hotel. We openly charge car parking (on all booking, sign as you enter the hotel and addtional signage on the front desk), we do this so we can...

I stayed here midweek in a 3 bed family room with my two teenage children for £99. Nice room, and a lot cheaper than the Barcelo Majestic in Harrogate. Very grand old hotel, but in need of slight refurbishment in some areas. There appeared to be only one old lift, which was unavailable once when staff were moving cases to... more

having read reviews of this hotel, very mixed bunch, we were slightly dubious. However from the moment of checking in, entering the grand hall and being assisted by a very helpful local, we were impressed. The room was small but we couldn't complain at the price we were paying, and the facilities in the gym, pool and the overall ambience... more

My friends and I stayed here for a Murder Mystery weekend, which was also my Hen weekend. Looking at some of the bad comments written about this hotel they seem quite unfair - the hotel was very good for a 3* - the food was faultless, staff very friendly, spacious bedrooms which were clean and tidy and we were very... more

No problem with main hotel, but the management and care of the health club need major up grade. Shower out of order for 3/4 weeks. guest bedroom towels used as floor cloths. Reception staff eating on duty (chips, burghers ....) so area had odour of fast food outlet.Nowhere to sit and wait as staff sitting around using all seats. No... more

Thank you for your comments about our leisure club; I have never know any of our showers to be out of action for 3-4 weeks, we have seating in the reception area, round the corner as well as in the corridor by the free weights room. In both the ladies and gents changing rooms we have family changing rooms which...

I recently got married at the Palace Hotel and we were over the moon with the service we received from this hotel. Our special day was amazing. The food was out of this world and the staff were the most efficient and friendliest ive ever met. Quite a few family members stayed over night in the hotel and were impressed... more

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel as part of a promotion which was £140 for 2nights B&B for 2people. As we didnt pay that much we werent expecting the Ritz. The rooms are very shabby, having said that the beds were comfortable. There isnt a fridge but you do have kettle, tea and coffee. The shower curtain was... more

If you are planning a special stay, save your money! £140.00 for a dark, tired room overlooking a roof is far too expensive. The hotel is in need of a makeover, and it shows. You also get charged £3.50 to park your car which doesn't add to the experience of staying in a "Grand" hotel one little bit! The breakfast was nice though more

A small number of our rooms do over look the rear of the hotel. We have invested heavily in the hotel in recent years all room have know got new bed linen, curtains and new carpets (24 rooms have carpets which are 2 years old so these were not replaced.) The restaurant, reception and most of the M&E rooms have...

This hotel was obviously magnificent in it's hey day, but is now a little tired and in need of a complete revamp. This actually didn't bother me too much as our room was a good size, with a very comfortable bed, complete with a modern bathroom etc. The main problem I had was the cleanliness in the room and around... more

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us, with regards to the facelift we are constantly investing in the hotel as already mention on one of the other responses we have done the soft re fit in all bedrooms and all public areas have been re carpeted as well as the restaurant being re painted.
