Stayed for two nights. Great location for exploring Peak District. Rooms were small but had everything you need. Well decorated and comfy bed. We had a dog with us but room was still high standard. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. Evening meals are great quality and quantity.

A welcome sight at a cross roads perched high on the hilltop road, fabulous views on both sides. A warm welcome by the Hosts and a very nice menu, and we thought very resonably priced. A massive 'T' bone steak on the specials board was had which was lovely, beers were good, pub warm and cosy. We didn't stay overnight,... More

The Inn is situated in the middle of nowhere, which was great - just what we wanted. Great villages and countryside nearby. Good cooked breakfast available and the restaurant menu was pretty good - typical wholesome English menu. Recommend a trip to Tissington Hall, where Sir Richard, the current owner, will chat to visitors before or after the tour -... More

We stayed over night in our motorhome in the car park at the jug and bottle. We were made very welcome by the landlord. The pub was very cosy and busy. We had a lovely meal and were very pleased that they served real chips (not frozen). I had fish and chips and my partner had the enormous mixed grill.... More

This was a really good choice for a two-day stopover: quite a few other guests were doing the same or staying longer: it's an ideal base to explore the area if you want an "away from it all" experience! Easy to find (as there is nothing else in the area!), we were warmily welcomed by Frank, the life and soul... More

We arrived on Friday afternoon and were greeted by Janette who made us very welcome. The king size bedroom was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. We had dinner on both nights. Advice to book for Saturday evening. The atmosphere in the Bar was great with everybody mixing in, helped with the friendly and jovial Frank. Would definitely... More

Stopped for evening meal on the way through to Sheffield from Lancashire, after having to take a detour from the motorway! So glad we did, we were amongst 6 or 7 groups of people waiting to get through the door when it opened for the evening at 6pm. One of which had been for lunch and was coming back for... More

We've not been up to the jug for a long time as we had a few inconsistent meals in the past but I'm very glad we called in for lunch today. We chose to have cottage pie and steak and stilton pie served with veg and chips. The portions were more than ample sized, the chips were lovely as were... More

this is the second time we have stayed here and it was not a let down again. The rooms are comfortable and clean and we had a wonderful view over the countryside. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Food is excellent especially the hearty breakfast which could last you all day. Some very pretty villages around within a short... More
