I stayed here with 2 friends during the Hay festival and we were all impressed. This B&B is ideally located a short distance from the village and the house faces away from the road so it feels like you are miles from anywhere, in fact the only noise you can hear is the birds in the garden. It is run... More

This was definitely one of the top two places that we stayed at during our 3-week trip to Wales and Scotland. We were here 3 nights in June 2014. The rooms were quiet (away from the street) and comfortable and Jim and Margaret's hospitality was exceptional. The breakfasts were always delicious. Depending on one's walking speed, it is about a... More

`This is a lovely B&B. Fantastically situated with an easy 5 minute walk into Hay on Wye. We stayed in the king-size en suite room (Tretower) which has a very comfortable bed and also has two easy chairs in the bedroom bay window with views over the beautiful gardens. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived - Jim... More

My wife and I normally prefer hotels to B&Bs but it would be hard to fault York House. From the warm welcome from Jim and Margaret, to the lovely rooms and classy breakfasts, this place would be hard to beat. Even the tea trays in the bedrooms had really good quality biscuits instead of the usual Lichfield version. Similarly, there... More

This was our second time at York House after a three year gap. How wonderful to be remembered, to be greeted with tea and delicious homemade cake, to have the same sumptuously appointed and comfortable room, and to be made so welcome at every turn. The breakfast was outstanding for both choice and quality. The location and setting of York... More

After a 2 year absence we revisited this charming beautifully kept B & B in the lovely town of Hay on Wye. We were not disappointed, the owners Jim & Margaret made us very welcome. The rooms are well appointed and each has its own unique character. The views from the rooms of surrounding hills are stunning as is the... More

Lynn P We have just returned from our fourth stay at this superb B & B. Quite frankly we would not consider staying anywhere else in this area. On our arrival, we are greeted warmly by Jim and Margaret and we are made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room is beautifully clean and has all the necessary... More

A friend and I enjoyed a two day break here in October 13 , and will certainly be back to York House. Very well situated for the town but just far enough away from the centre to be undisturbed by the occasional traffic noise of Hay. A very warm welcome and thoroughly comfortable room, good facilities and excellent breakfast, Delighted... More
