A lucky find! The reputation of Hay on Wye / Y Gelli as the Town of Books makes it a busy destination. So when, after several fruitless calls, a friendly voice said "we can squeeze you in" I feared it would literally be a tiny single in the attic. To my delight it was a spacious, airy, recently renovated double.... More

An excellent B and B in the heart of Hay-on-Wye. Comfortable, clean rooms and a very knowledgeable owner who knows the local area. Walkers made very welcome and a wonderful breakfast that was elegantly presented.

Very pleasant room (No3) and spotless new bathroom. Ideal for Offa's Dyke walkers - right on the path. Owners very friendly with lots of information on town and local area/history. Helpful with taking in bag transfers etc. Breakfast very good (minor point - we would have liked to have been offered the option to select specific cooked items - no... More

Rest for the Tired is ideally situated above one of the bookshops in the small town of Hay on Wye, with its own private parking at the back. The B&B is well cared for and run with love, passion and knowledge. Mary is an excellent host, friendly, kind, helpful and welcoming. She knows exactly what you need and immediately makes... More

We arrived exhausted from the long descent from the Offa's Dyke path on the ridge and were warmly welcomed. Lovely old building, well maintained. Beautiful attic room with very comfy bed and gorgeous new shower room. Surprisingly, the cheapest B&B on our walk. Lovely English breakfast and enjoyable morning wandering around Hay before heading home. Highly recommended.

I was tired, I had walked from Pandy to Hay on Wye on the Offas Dyke path, over a mighty ridge and when I arrived I was made most welcome, lovely beds for the very tired, I slept from 9.30pm to 7.00 am without hearing a sound. Mary anticipates what you need and is a fountain of knowledge about local... More

The owners are really lovely and welcoming people. Historic building housing a bookshop as well as the B&B. Room was lovely, old beams, large and a large en suite. Good stay here after a long tiring day walking Offa's Dyke.

You can't go wrong by choosing this B&B in Hay-on-Wye. The proprietors Mary and John Thomas are so welcoming and helpful. You will be staying at a beautiful Tudor house with the most amazing beams(watch out for your head!) Great atmosphere. The beds are first-class and the bed-linen is the finest cotton you can get(I'm very fussy about bed-linen) The... More

Warm welcome, amazing old house, very pretty and comfortable room (excellent bed), delicious full english breakfeast at a long wooden table with fellow guests... I'd recommend "Rest for the Tired" to anyone who appreciates historic houses and small places that feel like home! I will certainly be back!
