Expectation beating, family atmosphere infused, good value for money place in the prime location of Hay in Wye with the breakfast that will allow you to endure all those book hunts and treks across the Black Mountains.

My wife and I have just spent 3 super nights at Rest for the Tired, hosted by Mary & John. Their cosy B and B situated, predictably, above a lovely bookshop, chimes perfectly with the slightly other-worldly atmosphere of Hay. Full of sloping floors and solid beams this little retreat is convenient for the bookshop tour of Hay, it sets... More

Cracking little B&B dating back to 17th century. Rooms very clean & well presented. B&B ideally located for the 4 of us for our weekend of walking on Offas Dyke. Conveniently close to 2 great pubs (Three Tuns & Rose & Crown). Must admit Mary & John made us all feel very welcome, especially at breakfast. With a great breakfast,... More

Loved this B&B- great little room upstairs with lots of comfort and character. Mary and John were very friendly (I perched myself on the couch, had a nice visit and watched the British Open with John one afternoon- very pleasant). I was really happy we chose to stay in the village (which is so nice) and it seemed perfect to... More

Booked this B&B through the very helpful Joan at the information centre in Hay on Wye which was great as we had difficulty finding accommodation the previous evening elsewhere. We had a double room at the top of the stairs which was very quaint, bed very comfortable and quiet. Enjoyed a full English breakfast with another family which was great.... More

When in Hay-on-Wey you should, of course, stay on top of a bookshop. This lovely little B&B is not only perfectly situated, it is also a lovely little building with quaint little rooms in the attic with black beams and doors that makes a tall Swede bow deeply. The landlady is both charming and attentive and welcoming to both adults... More

We visited Hay on Wye to look round the bookshops and to go canoeing down the Wye which we did with much pleasure. It was not easy to find accommodation this time of year anywhere as most places have just a couple of rooms each so make sure to book here early as it is very affordable and a really... More

A lucky find! The reputation of Hay on Wye / Y Gelli as the Town of Books makes it a busy destination. So when, after several fruitless calls, a friendly voice said "we can squeeze you in" I feared it would literally be a tiny single in the attic. To my delight it was a spacious, airy, recently renovated double.... More

An excellent B and B in the heart of Hay-on-Wye. Comfortable, clean rooms and a very knowledgeable owner who knows the local area. Walkers made very welcome and a wonderful breakfast that was elegantly presented.

Very pleasant room (No3) and spotless new bathroom. Ideal for Offa's Dyke walkers - right on the path. Owners very friendly with lots of information on town and local area/history. Helpful with taking in bag transfers etc. Breakfast very good (minor point - we would have liked to have been offered the option to select specific cooked items - no... More
