We knew this was quirky but then it is so well placed for the literary festival. Hotel has a loyal bunch of regulars for the festival and I can see why. Friendly staff, adequate breakfast, fine ales, lovely grounds and on the park and ride route. Would only use for the festival. Huge potential but required investment may not give... More

We stayed here after being let down by a booking error that ment that the original hotel could only offer us one night instead of the two booked. They got us this room. What a lucky error! We loved the place! It has beautiful gardens, friendly staff, a good restaurant and is an absolutely beautiful house. Yes the room could... More

We booked this hotel to meet up with friends. From the website it looked an interesting place to stay - lots of character. We expected it to be a grand house of faded glory and that is exactly what it was. The entrance hall was fabulous!! However, the bedrooms definitely needed to be updated. Very 1980s. Especially the bathrooms. Although... More

When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted with a warm welcome from the manager and taken to my room then shown around this beautiful old building and where things are like the swimming pool, and lounge area.

Well I have just come back after a lovely stay, My husband treated me for our Wedding Anniversary, I have driven pass this hotel and I must say it looked stunning, and it is, the grounds to this place is out of this world, you have the Black Mountains, it over looks the Wye Valley, now the hotel its self... This one is hard to review as the shabby opulence defies an overall rating. If you are a group and want a bed for the night, a jolly decent home cooked meal and a grand staircase, this is the place in an area not well served by such accommodation. You don't need to be too fussy about plumbing or meticulously... More

Fabulous setting and lovely old mansion but the place is in desperate need of a full refurbishment. Double room in rear was tiny and shabby and at £76 a night for two was massively over priced. Bed was hard, cobwebs, artex walls. Pool was nice but all very dated and needed tlc. Could have been amazing but disappointing. Such a... More

We visited Baskerville Hall Hotel as a last minute trip. The hotel was nice, welcome was friendly. Our room was up a million stairs, there were quite a few flies and bugs in the room dead and alive the worst one was dead under the pillow on the bed argh! The pool was nice and the restaurant was good at... More

Wow what a fabulous hotel!! Having read the negative reviews we were a little apprehensive about staying here but we very soon learnt that an open mind would make for a great stay at this 'timeless' hotel. We were greeted by the welcoming owner and given the keys to our 'very different' rooms. Some of the rooms were pretty basic... More

Baskerville Hall is an impressive Victorian mansion retaining many original features. As you enter, you are greeted by a grand staircase and it really feels as if you are walking into a stately home. However, this feeling stopped abruptly for us when we entered the bedroom . The room was clean and large, but the furnishings would have been more... More
