A warm welcome, clean and spacious single ensuite room, and delicious breakfasts with helpful advice about walks and restaurants in the area. I wholeheartedly recommend the Firs. Thank you Esther and David.

Visited whilst walking Offas Dyke footpath. David & Esther were very good hosts. Comfortable accommodation and well located in HOW with good parking on site. We are going back again next year and will need one of their large breakfasts to help us attack the walk up to Hay Bluff!

The Firs is a warm, friendly guest house in the heart of Hay. The proprietors David and Esther really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home, and bend over backwards to help out with any situation or query you have. The breakfasts are as little or much as you want, but delicious and a... More

Once again we were made very welcome by Esther and David, during the hectic hay festival. Clean accommodation and first class breakfasts. I don't know how they can keep cheerful with such a lot of work to do, but always helpful and prepared to spend time with the guests. So helpful that you are made to feel part of the... More

The Firs is in a brilliant location, right next to the biggest bookshop in Hay and within easy walking distance of the centre and its facilities. There is an excellent pub right opposite which provides great food. The rooms, shared facilities and breakfasts were all top notch with nothing falling short of expectations. We were walking Offa's Dyke and The... More

Great bike storage or car parking in central Hay - something otherwise at a premium. Shops, pubs and restaurants available within the shortest of walks. Welcoming hosts, room with fridge and tea making facilities. Old school decor. Restoring breakfast - as light as you like with prunes and yogurts, or a substantial plate of local sausage and bacon with fresh... More

Got stuck in Hay on Wye and The Firs were good enough to put us up at short notice. Being on a long bike trip, they stashed our muddy bikes happily and recommended a local pub for us to eat in. The pricing was very reasonable and the full (Welsh/English?) breakfast was very filling with lovely sourced bacon and a... More

Great location for walking into Hay on Wye Beautiful garden & terrace, great for sitting in sunshine. Most comfortable bed we've experienced away from home. Very well equipped room; fridge, bottled water, fan, hairdryer, coffee etc. Extremely welcoming and friendly couple (without being too 'in your face' or intrusive) Lovely breakfast, lots of choices. Very relaxing and comfortable. Very quiet... More

My sister and I stayed here last weekend as we were meeting up with some friends. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The location was perfect, in the heart of the town, and sitting behind the cinema book shop away from the main road. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Who needs an... We spent three nights in comfy rooms with very friendly, helpful hosts! It's very convenient for walking around Hay. It's also an easy walk to the laundrette if needed. The breakfast was first class!!!!
