On arrival at the Carraig we felt welcome even before we entered our room. If you are looking for a snooty hotel with aloof staff - this isn't it. (Carrick on Suir is not a trendy contrived town - it is Ireland in its true form.) Our room was very spacious, bright and airy very clean and quiet. The food... more

My friends and I are just back from a Saturday overnighter in Carrick-on-Suir (October 2009). We were on our annual motorcycle trip, where we pick a town somewhere in Ireland, ride there, enjoy a night out and ride back again. Upon entering the hotel, we found the receptionist very helpful and patient with 6 bikers all changing their minds about... more

Carraig on Suir is quite a small town, so your options for accommodations are rather limited. It is a charming little town full of fantastic people that are very proud of where they hail from. The hotel doesn't have a lift, yet some more steep stairs to climb, but it's only two levels, and genuinely not all that bad really.... more

Most important to note there is a public carpark directly oppisite the hotel at 2euros per vist and has plenty of security cameras on it. Says 12 hour max stay but doesn't apply if you want to stay longer. Hotel - warm welcome at reception, room and paperwork waiting our arrival; room very clean and spacious; restauraunt service speedy; food... more

I stay here often and I love it. Good food and service very time I stay. The rooms are modern, clean and a good size. It’s not a 4 or five star but it has lovely staff and a good Irish welcome which is very hard to find these days. The only down side is if there is something going... more

My wife and I spent 2 nights at this 3 star hotel (a Friday and a Saturday – I’ll explain later) on a bread and breakfast basis. We booked directly with the hotel and paid 99 euros per night for a double room. The room was at the front of the hotel, on the second floor overlooking the town’s Main... more

Rooms updated and fairly clean, but bathroom could have been cleaner. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful--probably the best thing about this place. Sat in the bar to eat dinner but waited 20 minutes without being approached so we went over to the dining room where menus were practically thrown at us after we waited an additional 10... more

Carraig Hotel Carrick-on-Suir Certainly the nicest hotel we stayed in while in Ireland and definitely the best food. Mornings began with a full Irish breakfast of black and white pudding, link sausage, ham, eggs and potatoes. Along with a choice of fruit, juices, yogurt, and dry cereal. The scones were the best we had in Ireland; always warm and delicious.... more
