We stayed here for a couple of nights. It was a very comfortable stay. The staff were wonderful! Nothing was too much trouble and they were very accommodating with our 7 month old. The evening meal was delicious and so was the breakfast. This was a buffet but you can order a cooked breakfast. There was plenty of tea and... More

This hotel has lots of charm and character. Stayed in the cottage room which faces the front and is big and airy, It is a minutes walk to the shops and riverside where there are a few nice pubs and restaurants. The racecourse is about a 20 minutes walk. Breakfast good with local sourced ingredients. Well worth a stay if... More

If your susceptible to atmosphere, then you will de delighted with this gem of a hotel. The food was excellent, the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The view, if your in the front of the hotel, is a picturesque view of chepstow castle. It's not far from town centre, only a short walk. It also boasts it own ghost.... More

I needed somewhere to stay at very short notice and found this little gem on the net, although my booking details weren't at the hotel when I arrived (typical however as soon as I filled out the booking slip at the desk it arrived). The room was very clean and well presented as was the bath room, with time getting... More

I was needing to stay local to David Broomes Equestrian Centre and had a quick look around Chepstow as it's right on the doorstep. Found several places on the internet so looked into it a little further and found the ideal place, somewhere with a nice setting, close enough to my destination, somewhere that takes a small dog. Perfect, Castle... More

Needing a hotel with less than 24 hours notice,I booked The Castle View Hotel with no predetermined opinions in mind.I need not have worried, this is a fine little hotel,we stayed in a family room, which was ok,2 beds en-suite,TV,tea and coffee making facilities, room looked across the road towards the castle.Had a quick walk around Chepstow then came back to the hotel... This hotel is a place that treads an uneven line between "character" and "not good enough". The staff are all friendly and helpful; the dinner (all 4 of us went for 28-day aged steaks) was OK, but I doubt that it was really 28 days aged (too pink). Breakfast was disappointing - cheap sausages, chewy bacon, no choice of how... More

This hotel/pub offering B&B and Traditional English food was a big disappointment. Whilst the location right opposite the Castle was superb, that's where the positives ended really (oh, apart from a really good wine list-someone knows their stuff). The rooms were extremely dated and a bit grubby. Our bathroom had mould round the bath and the valance on the bed... More

We wandered in to the Castle View after walking down the main street looking for somewhere more appetising than Wetherspoons and still serving at 20:55. Although the chef was about to finish there was no problem with ordering and no rush. We had an excellent meal and were entertained by the owner and friendly staff, (along with t'other diners). We... Very old building with low beamed ceilings with a warm welcoming feel throughout. I've stayed twice whilst passing by Chepstow and have been delighted with the bedrooms, even though the floors in some rooms slope at a crazy angle. It just adds to the charm. I agree with all of the recent reviews particularly in respect of food and service.... More
