We booked this hotel because we were visiting Tintern Abbey which is only a few miles away. We didn't realize that Chepstow has an amazing castle within walking distance of the George Hotel-it was amazing! Chepstow is a great place to stay, walk and shop. The George Hotel is comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food in... More

We have just returned from a couple of nights in this hotel lovely place but spoiled by the very noisy disco on both nights. We were warned it could be noisy but it was a bit excessive . The disco finished at 1 am both nights but the hotel over the road carried on until 2am. On a good note... More

Stayed here yesterday (9 June) on our way round the UK. First off car park is difficult to find, its on a side road beside the pub. Greeted by a pleasant young lady who showed us up to our room. Unfortunately thats where the good times finish. Our room was up 5 sets of stairs at the top of the... More

We have just returned from a two night stay in this Hotel. The Hotel is run by a very (30 ish) young Manager who was pleasant enough. The Hotel locks its doors at 11 p.m. and any guest returning after this time has to use the Fire Escape to gain access. The hotel is a very old building which gives... More

Were do I start! Coming upto the pub no signage to say where the carpark is, took a guess and was right! The reception guy was having his fag brake, got just asked to fill a piece of paper with my registration and signature no name asked! Given the key to room 5, opened the door to see the room... More

There are two entries on Trip Advisor for The George at Chepstow, one for the accommodation and one for the food, but they each seem to have comments for both so I have posted mine in each. Visited Chepstow on Sunday late afternoon after having a wonderful morning/afternoon at Dewstow Gardens. We called into Chepstow for something to eat and... More

Went to The George for a one night stay, on New Years Eve, obviously being above the pub we expected the noise. We arrived and could only pay by any card - Cash Only No Tills. No Receipts. Couldn't get out of the door on the landing, so along with some other guests we had to claim down the metal... More

Pros: cheap and cheerful. Clean. Ok breakfast. Friendly staff. Close to everything in town and Chepstow Races. Lots of screens if you want to watch the footy. Tea and coffee facilities. Cons: Room 16, the hottest room ever with the most impressive looking air con unit which was useless. If you want peace and quiet, it's not the place for... More

One of the worst places I have ever stayed in Not an experience to be repeated EVER!!! On booking there is no mention of the unsuitability of this horrendous place for children. We had to fight our way past obnoxious bouncers just to get into the building.Broken glass, drunk unruly people, ivy growing through the walls,no carparking.REALLY NASTY!!!
