The Afon Gwy is under new management and is now open to enjoy in the daytime as well as the evening. The garden is truly one of the best places to enjoy chepstow's beautiful riverbank whilst enjoying lunch and a tipple. The landlord and staff are all very friendly and make for a relaxing, welcoming environment to enjoy with friends... More

Please take note that this bar/cafe/restaurant has just been taken over. Lovely setting with the outside and restaurant sat along side the riverbank. Perfect with the sun on you and a nice glass of wine. Just been opened as a cafe, selling cakes and fair trade fresh coffee, also a lovely selection of deli items to order which is perfect... More

Tucked away, close to the beautiful Regency bridge and the Castle, the Afon Gwy is a hidden gem. The Sunday lunches are the best in town, and a friendly welcome is guaranteed. Good ale, and a selection of beers wines and spirits make it a popular place for a relaxed drink. The garden is a real treat in the summer,... More

We visited the Afon Gwy for Sunday lunch. Food was lovely, and plenty of it. View from the conservatory room is lovely. Whether visiting for food, or just for a drink, the landlord is extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

We recently had Sunday lunch at the Afon Gwy while on a day trip to Chepstow. Wow -- what a find! The kitchen must have been waiting for us because our food arrived ultra fast. Prices were very reasonable; portions were large; and the wait staff was helpful and courteous. For dessert, we split the warm lemon tart (optional topping:... More

Nice guest house with a view of the river. The tide rises 15 m here and the old bridge over the river made a nice view from our room. The host was very friendly and helpful and made us a lovely, though large, breakfast, telling us about the guest house and the area. We had a really nice, first stay... More

I liked this building, with its rustic charm, old stone and woodwork. Its situation by the river is ideal for watching the tide surge in and out.
