a very very very bad place. it is very overpriced, the room was not cleaned properly. the breakfast was cold and not free as we were told initially (we then had to argue about this when we saw it on our invoice) i mentioned in my booking that this was for our anniversary. upon checking out, we got charged for... We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for my mother-in-law's funeral. As we were making arrangements from afar we also booked the hotel for the wake afterwards - what a mistake! The building is well maintained, with lovely public areas (although they go largely unused as the hotel offers no facilities), the bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed, with... More

Dear Madam, In your review you omitted that you booked two rooms at a discount of two nights for one, for each room –a 50% discount. The buffet that you specifically ordered (and we have retained your email) stipulated the exact sandwiches and desserts: chocolate brownies, Victoria sponge cake, and shortbreads, which is underneath our normal standard. The agreed price... More

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this establishment. I have to say based on the description on its website together with the extortionate £120 per night rates our expectations were NOT met!! This B&B is advertised as a 4 star hotel-don't believe it!! It is a 3 star B&B at best and you certainly don't get... More

Dear Madam, We upgraded your room at no charge. A free continental breakfast was provided which included: juice, cereals, toast, jams, fruit salads, yougurts, hot beverages, etc…. We do not have a restaurant service nor do we advertise one. Regards, Mr. Jean-Laurent Cormerais de Germond More

This hotel has some lovely rooms with views of the Clyde - perfect on a sunny weekend. The service was 'patchy' (total mix up with our booking, despite having a confirmation email from the hotel, varied standard of rooms, slow service at breakfast and disputed charges on checkout) however we got it sorted, the front rooms are lovely and when... My partner and I have stayed in the Dunoon area several times before but with the demise of our usual haunt (R.I.P. Whistlefield Inn) we took the children for a few nights at the Hunters Quay Hotel. Its a very quiet place, with other guests only visible in passing and I must say I enjoyed the feeling of having the... More

We spent a couple of nights using 2 rooms at this "hotel". The reason this review is difficult is that in many ways this was a pleasant experience yet to call this a hotel is a misnomer,it is more of a guest house. From the mobile phone on the front door in order to get in, to intruding on the... More

Hunters Quay Hotel is paradise on earth.. when you arrive on the ferry from Gourock you see it already from the port and it's a beautiful ancient family house resembling to a small castle.. The interior is very well maintained, decorated with a lot of taste. Jean-Laurent-the owner- is an art lover and you notice it very quickly! The rooms... More

The hotel is very well situated and confortable, close to various loch and beautiful forest landscapes. I got a room with the view of the water: magnificent. The decoration is absolutely amazing and of good taste. Everything is clean and spacious. The owner is very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. It was a pleasure to have a chat... More

Spent two nights at this hotel in December. Enjoyed the stay. Room with a great view of the Clyde, four poster bed and lots of room to relax. Well decorated and clean. Great breakfast. Only problem was the room was cold when we first went in but the response to our request for an additional heater was immediate. Enjoyed our... More

How lucky we were to find this gem of a hotel in Dunoon. Nice to have contact by booking over the phone. The person at the other end was friendly and the information given was spot on. On arrival, the owner welcomed us and directed us to the Thistle room. It couldn't have been better for us, everything needed for... More
