Im totally new to trip advisor but having noticing your reviews weren't so positive thought it would be nice to write a positive review. My husband and I came for a meal on the 9th of September 2014 and after having despicable service from the waitress that was there the last time I didn't want to go back. We got... More

Due to a cock up by another hotel in Cowal, we found ourselves looking for a place to stay in Dunoon and, getting rather desperate, we looked at the Royal Marine on account of its grand exterior and the fact that it had vacancies. Inside, the hotel was none too clean and very shabby with scuffed and chipped paintwork, exposed... More

Booked the hotel over the phone, staff was rude, price quoted intially for per room per night, then double it up by charging it per person per room per night! caused a huge amount of confusion. Ended up cancelling another hotel already booked by mistake. Staff isn't helpful at all. Won't recommend to anyone.

Spent a week here after a mix up with booking at the Esplanade. Looks very grand from the outside, but inside not quite so. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the room was comfortable, if not palatial. I was told the hotel has new ownership and they would like to refurbish, but were limited because the building is... More

Stayed here from a coach tour 4 nights. The Hotel stands very majestic when you start to approach the quay from the ferry. The rooms are ready for refurbishment. They are clean, well aired and have all the amenities you would need. The food is to be recommended, very good menu's, great choice and the Scottish Night complete with Haggis... More

We were attracted to this hotel by its old world appearance, its the first thing that catches your eye as you disembark from the gourock ferry, have a look at the edifice but do not be tempted to enter, we decided to eat here and it was a mistake, one member of staff looked after reception, the bar, and served... Stayed at the Royal Marine Hotel on Saturday for 1 night. We had a lovely sea facing room on the third floor (a bit of a climb). It had a double and 2 single beds. We all had a great sleep, no noise to be heard and comfy beds. The bathroom was big and had a bath with a shower... More

We were visiting my mother in one of the local care homes and had to book three nights in this old hotel as it was so near Christmas, there was no availability online elsewhere. When we arrived, we were given the key of a room and told it was on the second floor. As we climbed the stairs the temperature... More
