We went as part of a David Urquhart 5 day holiday. The room we had were both on the ground floor,which was ideal for my mother who has arthritis in her knees. My husband and I travelled with the Coach Holiday ,Com. Monday to Friday stay. We had a twin room on the ground floor. Clean Comfy beds. 'en suite clean and piping hot water throughout our stay. Stayed here over christmas and had a really nice time the food and staff were excellent , yes the hotel is old and the bathroom seemed like it was on a slope but the room was clean and warm . The hotel is in a stunning location on The Leas really close to the town centre. more

We enjoyed our 4 nights stay at the Carlton Hotel. Although slightly dated it was clean and efficient and the staff was very helpful and courteous. After reading some bad reviews we were sceptical about going, but it was fine, we didn't hear any bad reports from any other guests. What a view from our room at the front overlooking... more

We only stayed one night ,before travelling to France. Believe me when I say that one night was enough. The staff were friendly and cheerful and the breakfast was good. The hotel generally was clean and tidy, if a little tired looking, but the bed, that was something else. It was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in.... more

The hotel was more like a run down old peoples home. It had a muggy smell and although I am a smoker myself I was disgusted at the smell of smoke as we entered our dull shabby room.
