When I am looking to stay in a hotel I dont know I rely heavily on reviews hereon tripadvisor, and up to now this has served me well. But on this occasion I feel completely tucked up by some of the reviews of this place. I should have known better than to book a two star but the reviews were... more
A basically sound hotel that - for a little attention to detail - could be so much better. The whole place is decorated very amateurishly and the furniture is very dated. Service is slow in the dining room can be lethargic and inattentive.Very little of the food is self service to get yourself started - none of the milk is... more
I have just got back from a business trip to Folkestone for 2 days where I originally looked at staying at the Sandgate Hotel. On their website it stated in their offers from £50.00 a night bed & breakfast but on phoning they told me it was £50.00 room only £70,00 including breakfast (Some Breakfast!!!) (To be fair I have... more
I found the Southcliff through the AA site and booked directly with the Hotel. On arrival they told me where I could park my motorbike safely (a big plus), checked me in quickly and told me what I needed to know. My room was big with a nice firm double bed, clean bedding, towels etc etc. The bathroom was small... more
i had an enjoyable weekend here ,& really could not fault this hotel, bearing in mind it is only a 2 STAR. our room was on the 3rd floor, and was comfy with far reaching views over the channel, the bed was huge ,and en-suite was well equipped & lots of hot water, beutifull white towels.Breakfast was very good and service of teas... more
We were a little worried after reading some previous reviews ,but were pleasantly surprised. This was a short break for the Bank Holiday with a local coach company and for £99 with a trip to France included it was excellent value for money. Yes, the staff are casually dressed but they more than make up for this in their friendliness... more
This hotel promised a lot but delivered little. Thank goodness we only stayed for one night... When we arrived the hotel appeared a good choice. We were greeted by a poilte professional gentleman (who turned out to be the duty manager) who checked us in and gave us our key and directions to our room. The journey to our room... more
Well positioned overlooking the sea and close to the Leas Cliff Hall theatre. We paid for a sea view and weren't disappointed but the room smelt smokey or damp. It was a little dated, but functional. Service was fine, breakfast served quickly and good wholesome British food. Car parking is a bit of a problem, but we managed to find... more
Stayed at this hotel for 1 night - arrived late in the evening and left early the next morning. Paid 50 pound for a double room inc breakfast - I think this was a deluxe room (pretty standard if you ask me) as it had a balcony and sea view. Room is basic - but beddings was clean. Bathroom was... more
