I truely can't explain how frustrated I am being here. Whilst in need of somewhere to work and lay my head for 7 nights I opted for this dive. However, lets start with the positives... simple, location, view and coffee making facilities (you jut ask for more!). On the other hand the negatives are as follows. Upon arrival I felt... More

After reading the reviews we were torn on what to expect, but what a pleasant we had when we arrived! It was all clean and well kept. The look of the place made me feel like in a retro movie with its quirky shaped rooms and tinny wood elevators! They were ever so accommodating when we requested enough room to... More

An old fashioned sea facing hotel which was excellent value for money. The room was modern, light and spacious, and with Full English Breakfast included, I thought the value for money was outstanding. Found this true of everything I found in the town itself. Obviously not very busy, even on a bank holiday weekend, but made a very good impression... More

Nice location on the sea front but no parking and little advice about where to park. Rooms extremely tired, desperately in need of entering this century and although the outside seating area is a nice idea it really is pretty shoddy. Breakfast was OK but the dining room is again very tired. If you want basic and cheap it will... More

Stayed for 2 nights 21st to 23rd August. Stayed in room 324 which over looked the channel which was a good surprise. Rooms are small but clean. Yeah the decoration needs updating but you definitely get what you pay for in this hotel. Breakfast is very tasty. Everything you could need for a couple of nights. Would stay again

Although the staff were friendly & clearly had sense of humour given the message on the door of the very ancient lift about the star ship enterprise, the Hotel itself was tatty, horrendously decorated (it appears they did a raid on a run down nursing home for the filthy chairs in the rooms) & in dire need of an update.... We stayed two nights at the Southcliff its old in need of work but for £139.00 for two inc breakfast we managed okay. The Hotel is very run down breakfast was only orange juice fruit toast and full english that was okay but not much of it. The staff were friendly and the location is good.

We had an overnight stay, catching the ferry next morning. Obviously for the money we did not expect the Ritz but this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We nicknamed it "Arkwrights" (as in Open All Hours) but it wasn't as modern as that! It looked decrepit from the outside and upon entering we were transported back... More

We used the Southcliffe in transit across to France for our holidays, it was abysmal. We were in a tiny room, with a tiny bed marginally bigger than a single. The shower was small and i'm afraid, dirty, mouldy and unpleasant. The hotel in general is dirty and unkempt, peeling paintwork evident signs of general dampness, exposed cabling, presented a...
