This was our 2nd stay at the Southcliff, once again we found everything fine, we requested same room as last time & were lucky. Since a year ago we have travelled extensivly, south Africa, Sri lanka {twice], & we are happy to return to experience the typical good old fashion seaside holiday that many of our coastal resorts provide. The southcliff... more

We ended up at this hotel not because we chose it but because we had been bounced by another hotel that was overbooked. From the outside it looked fine with nicely painted walls and railings and overlooking the sea. The reception area also looks reasonable, but thereafter it is downhill all the way. The shocks start with parking. Unless you... more

The Southcliff was a pleasant surprise - I know there are mixed reviews on the site, but if you are looking for a good value place to stay for a few nights, this definitely won't break the bank. Yes, the rooms are a little outdated and the bathrooms quite small, but the service was excellent and the breakfast - which... more

We knew that this was a rather basic hotel - the price should confirm that with anyone, and if it had just been my husband and I going to Folkestone I would certainly have picked a different hotel, but we really needed nothing more than a base and somewhere to 'lay' out heads each night. We tried to check in... more

We were led to believe from the travel sites that this hotel was in Dover, when in fact it was the next town over, Folkstone. Probably just as well since Dover is a little seedy, with the exception of the Cliffs area. Room was inexpensive but really only appropriate for backpackers just getting off the trail. Well-worn single beds felt... more

Well, the beds are hard, our balcony door did not open, there was not a shower curtian and the shower head was about four feet above the tub(it was akward). I would not stay in it again. more

When I am looking to stay in a hotel I dont know I rely heavily on reviews hereon tripadvisor, and up to now this has served me well. But on this occasion I feel completely tucked up by some of the reviews of this place. I should have known better than to book a two star but the reviews were... more

A basically sound hotel that - for a little attention to detail - could be so much better. The whole place is decorated very amateurishly and the furniture is very dated. Service is slow in the dining room can be lethargic and inattentive.Very little of the food is self service to get yourself started - none of the milk is... more

I have just got back from a business trip to Folkestone for 2 days where I originally looked at staying at the Sandgate Hotel. On their website it stated in their offers from £50.00 a night bed & breakfast but on phoning they told me it was £50.00 room only £70,00 including breakfast (Some Breakfast!!!) (To be fair I have... more

I found the Southcliff through the AA site and booked directly with the Hotel. On arrival they told me where I could park my motorbike safely (a big plus), checked me in quickly and told me what I needed to know. My room was big with a nice firm double bed, clean bedding, towels etc etc. The bathroom was small... more
