You get what you pay for - this is very cheap, so don't expect a great deal of star quality. In essence it is a very large, basic amenities hotel. We had a 'premier' room with a lovely view over the harbour.. The facilities in the room were OK more or less. The bath/ shower taps sometimes worked if you... more

My husband and have just returned from taking my elderly Mother for a weekend break at the Hotel Burstin, Folkestone and we had a great time. We had previously visited the hotel to check for wheelchair access and stayed for lunch - which was excellent value for £7.50 in the Victoria Restaurant. We knew the hotel was built in the... more

Having read reviews we were concerned about staying at the Burstin but value for money we were very satisfied. All staff without exception were helpful, cheerful and tolerant. Room was tired and shabby but bedlinen and towels were spotlessly clean. The view from our window across the harbour was second to none. Food was satisfactory and plentiful. Evening entertainment good... more

Stayed one night 2nd June en route to Dover. Reception very pleasant and efficient. All downhill from there unfortunately. We had booked a superior room with a nice view overlooking the Harbour. However the general impression was the place was a 'shabby-genteel' place which had seen better days. It is crying out for refurbishment, the general cleanliness was good but... more

Unimpressed doesn't really go far enough to describe how I felt about staying at this hotel. It's old, grotty and poorly-equipped. In fact, it's so desparately in need of modernisation and refurbishment, it would be cheaper and quicker to knock it down and start again. It was definitely a laugh-before-you-cry experience. That said, stories of our stay here will probably... more

Having read the reviews in advance, I was concerned about staying at the hotel. However, the coach trip was already paid for so had to make the best of it. Would recommend upgrading to a premiere room for £10 pppn, which included use of the Victorian dining room. Bed linen was clean, room was generally OK, if a little tired.... more

In selecting this hotel, I turned to Trip Advisor to get a travelers perspective and felt confident in my selection. I chose this hotel mainly for location as I had to be near a family member's home in Folkestone and this hotel was perfect for that. Also our length of stay was 10 days so value for money was good.... more
