Arrived at breakfast before the rest of the family and tried to catch the (head) waiter's eye to get some menus: no luck. However, on his third walk past avoiding eye contact I very clearly heard him make an under the breath comment of "there's no point trying to catch my eye, sir". Wouldn't someone with an ounce of customer... More

My wife and myself recently held our Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration dinner for 31 guests at The Clifton and we were extremely pleased with the way the hotel staff handled the event from beginning to end. The Management (Andrei) and Reception (Philippa) staff were extremely helpful during the planning stages through to the event itself and nothing was too much... More

Spent 3 nights here Aug 2015' last minute mini break. Booked executive room, large very comfy bed, spacious room on 2nd floor. Lift very small. Room at rear of hotel overlooking park. Room very hot at night, small fan didn't help. Floorboards creak like crazy (I know it's an old building but did drive me mad). Overall decor is tired... More

We stayed one night and was very pleased with the comfort of our room also of the hotel bar and lounges. An old fashioned hotel but spotlessly clean. Near the town and the lovely leas. We didn't have food there so cannot comment. Easy parking outside hotel for £1 for 24hrs. The only little complaint was as you walked into... More

As other reviewers say it is old fashioned ,even quirky in some areas ...some areas could do with a bit of sprucing....and modernising. However a very interesting building, and super staff. A great asset these days ...great check in...all areas covered re parking and always helpful and friendly ., staff here at an efficient best. We had a great room on... More

Had a quick stop over, as we were on an early Euro Tunnel Train the next morning. The hotel is definitely an older style place. Room was very clean & fresh - Also a very good size for 3 people. The staff were fantastic & cannot praise them enough. Credit to the establishment. From start to finish! At check in... More

Perfect place to stay if you're going to a gig at Leas Cliff Hall! Room was very spacious and spotless. Everything you need is provided, ie, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, soaps etc. The sea view was fantastic, absolutely breath taking! The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the car pass for a pound was a relief. Great value... More

Hotel as good as ever. Staff brilliant especially Tommy in the bar. Great place to stay. Rooms clean and tidy. Good wifi always a pleasure to stay here. Very reasonable on price. And more character than a travel lodge or a premier Inn.

Stayed to visit War and Peace Show, so a nice area to stay. Room was nice and good value for money. Downside though, the cleaners need to work better. Very thick dirt on all skirting boards and around the bed. There were tea/ coffee stains on bathroom tiles which when i checked, could have easily been wiped off. Bed was... More

I have been staying at this Hotel since April '15 for business purposes, generally once a week. The breakfast is better than average, staff are friendly and I have not tried their dinner as I got hooked to an Indian restaurant down the road. The place has always been clean and well presented, luckily I have always got rooms which... More
