Stayed here a few years ago and thought I should warn people. Got into a dated room and said to hubby it was ok because we had a sea view stepped back and had white paint on my skirt from radiator. Went to reception and told them they didn't believe me and came to check. I normally walk around with... More

Good-sized rooms, but all terribly dated, desperately in need of upgrade. Corridors to rooms resemble a rabbit warren and the hotel lacked air-conditioning and had poor ventilation during recent hot spell. Appallingly slow restaurant service, both for dinner and at breakfast. Staff generally indifferent to customer needs, or rude. Great location, with fantastic views across the Channel, especially during the... More

I worked at Dugeness Power Station some years ago and since then have always wanted to return to the south coast for a holiday. I couldn't get the Stade Court Hotel in Hythe that I really wanted and made do with the Clifton. I am a best Western account holder and have been for ten years now so I know... More

Booked the Best Western for my husband's 40th birthday after being let down by 2 other hotels in the area. It's a good old fashioned seaside hotel - not great looking from the outside but lovely inside and great location (10 mins walk to Rocksalt where we had dinner). Lovely double room, nice classic décor, comfy bed, bathroom ok but... More

I was very ready to like this hotel. I liked the location, right on the seafront. However, I am on crutches at the moment and it wasn't clear where we could park in order to drop me off. I think we will have a parking ticket to pay. I went to book in. No help was offered at all with... More

So, this is a really old building with character but it like a maze so you must pay careful attention to your direction of travel! The rooms were clean and tidy albeit a little hot in the humid weather of ours. The cleaner was like a whirlwind in the morning! The staff were polite and helpful BUT...for £10.95 the breakfast... Not a bad hotel, but a lot of room for improvement. The rooms are big enough with comfortable beds and adequate bathrooms, but there is a strange, eerie atmosphere in the hotel. I've never seen more than half a dozen other people in there, and they are all of the retirement age. The staff are quite friendly and helpful, but... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel to attend a function at the leas cliff hall. Welcome to a Edwardian area. The rooms are comfortable though not that stylish but so clean. Despite it being a bit a rabbit warren of corridors to the rooms it is surprisingly quiet. Plenty of staff about always friendly and... More

This is an old hotel with a superb position. We had our dogs with us, en route for Spain and they were happy to accommodate. We were given a twin room on the 3rd floor with lovely views out to sea and over to France. But we also had a determined gull we named Arthur, as it refused to move... More

We have never had an overnigh stay before heading off to Switzerland so this was a good experience for us. The hotel and staff made the event much more enjoyable the only fault we could find was parking is a bit of tricky job otherwise good value.
