We arrived late at the hotel, you have to arrive before 10.30 as the people who run it will probably be asleep. Its basically there big house which they have made into a B & B. There are dogs running around and lots of tat in the rooms and the dinning area. The major downside is that the bedding did... more

I happened to see the Hotel Inspector Program about Garden Lodge, Densole, UK. I have been staying at Garden Lodge for more than 20 years and I have seen this business flourish. As a German who is not used to have B&Bs in our own country I thoroughly enjoyed staying in B&Bs all over England and Ireland while travelling the... more

had an overnight stay at Garden Lodge before using the tunnel to cross over to France the next morning. Both Ron and Sue were extremely welcoming offering us an evening meal if we required one we were hoping to stay for breakfast the next morning but had such an early crossing that Sue made us up a bag of bacon... more

The overall rating is based on the uniqueness and individual style of this B & B. The owners were welcoming and invite you into their home which is full of various collections (eg plates, dolls, items from Bali, and 2 friendly dogs) - minimalistic is not a word to associate with Garden Lodge! We stayed on the way out and... more

This comfortable and welcoming hotel is more like stepping into somebodies home rather than a cold bare walled modern hotel. Quaintley British I suppose. My wife and I, together with our fellow travellers enjoyed our stay and were more than happy with the service. Reasonably priced, good service, lots of artifacts to look at and discuss, and a huge open... more

Garden Lodge was a breath of fresh air when I visited Kent on business recently. After the sterile hotels I often have to stay in. It was great to be in a hotel that felt like a family home. Ron and Sue went out of there way to make my stay comfortable, Just as they had when I attended a... more

We stayed overnight on our return from France. Reception was friendly and warm, even though we were late arriving. Our room was a twin-bedded room with en suite, tv and tea/coffee making facilities. The room itself was spotless, and we spent a very pleasanr night. The cooked English breakfast was superb and could not be faulted. more

We have stayed a few times and have found Sue and Ron to be very friendly and welcoming. Yes, there are lots of plates, ornaments etc but we found it interesting to look around. The conservatory is a welcome addition. We also liked the new look Balinese dining room. Finally it is not as bland and impersonal as a modern... more

This is one of the worst b&b's I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. It is hard to know what to comment on first, since there is so many things wrong with the place. On arrival I was greeted by the female owner who was very unwelcoming, her attitude towards her guests was unbelievable. She then proceeded to... more
