Durker Roods proved to be an amazing place for a wedding reception. Our wedding took place on 25th July 2009 and everything about it was faultless. The newly refurbished bar and restaurant area looks great, the food superb and many of the guests remarked what a fantastic wedding it was. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and ideal for... more

My wife and I attended a wedding and stayed the night at the Durker Roods on the 25th July 2009. I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable weddings we have attended. The Wedding Party pretty much took over this old mansion house for the weekend, which generated a fantastic atmosphere. The hotel itself has a very... more

We were charged £67.50 for a family room for 2 adults and 1 child. Our friends were charged £80 for a suite for 2 people - their room was smaller than ours. The rooms were dirty...the bathrooms had obviously never been cleaned and when you moved the curtains, debris and dirt fell out. We had to wait an hour for... more

We stayed at Durker Roods for one night, and i can only say it was great, the staff were helpful , the rooms were clean , and the food in the bar was very good value for money. Yes the rooms are a little jaded , but this all adds to the character of the place. Going back soon and... more

I am a yorkshire girl through and through and to stay my home village and child hood upbringing was second to none. The lady who cooked breakfast !st morning was just like my grandmothers,it was home for me. The bar staff when we arrive was more than helpfull, taking it was late, would recommend to any true yorkshire person. Intrnet access was... more

This was our second visit to the DR. The hotel has been taken over recently by new owners and already changes are happening. No midweek lunches or dinners so the A4 notice on the entrance door informed us. Nevertheless the DR remains one of our favourites. Breakfast was as good as ever and our room (10) was massive. (Think we... more

Its not your fancy boutique hotel decor, but when you walk into your room it feels very homely. What I like the most is that the bathroom was sparkling clean. Breakfast very nice aswell, and would definitely stay again. Only let down is the location is remote, but this is reflected in the price, and the restaurant, was priced reasonably... more

I have to visit Huddersfield on business and looked up this hotel on Tripadvisor. The staff are very friendly in booking the room and with arranging local transport. Pub is a friendly atmosphere with a mix of locals and hotel guests. Was able to get some good sightseeing advice from locals over a pint one evening. Agree with other reviews... more

Stayed here in July. My sister had her wedding reception here. The whole day was so well organised and the staff were just brilliant. The breakfast was spot on. Would definately recommend. The only minus is the rooms are a tad dated but are clean and have everything you need. more

A friendly welcome (from both staff and locals) was on offer as I checked in. My room was comfortably furnished (albeit with a hint of '70s chic! especially in the grey lino & avacado suite of the bathroom) being in a modern extension to the original building. The bathroom did have more than a whiff of old-people's-home about it however... more
