Stayed recently whilst on business in the Holmfirth area. I have to say, I was a bit dubious about the hotel having read some of the recent comments but I have come away from The George having had a good stay. Yeah sure, the hotel has seen past glories & could probably do with a few quid investing in it... more

I booked rooms for myself and a colleague at the George because it was close to the station. Really embarrassing. I can't believe I took a colleague here. I wish I'd read the reviews on here first! My experience was just as bad as some of the others described here. First of all I should say that the staff on... more

Stayed here for 2 night from 5th Oct to 7th Oct. We got a very cheap rate of £60 for 2 nights with ebookers. When we arrived we were given our room key straight away and spent 5 minutes trying to unlock the door. When we finally got into the room we found that someone else was already staying in... more

I visited with my wife on a Saturday night and managed to get an executive suite for £50 including breakfast. This represented good value for money, however if I had paid the full price (which was over double what I paid) then I wouldn't be at all happy. It was very busy on the day we stayed, and it seemed... more

I booked this on laterooms for a price of £60. Well worth it. Arrived 3 hours early but was given a room straight away. Could not fault the service. Large double room and, very clean!!! great toiletries also! Located next to the railway station which has a lively pub. Only thing I will say is that if you are down... more

It was my first visit to Huddersfiield and I have found a gem of a hotel for both leisure and business. The service was simply great with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude from the staff there. The room was comfortable, the food at the restaurant was unbelivably good and the unique ambience concerning its heritage was exceptional. I... more

We were given a deluxe double room it was very spacious and on the whole clean, friends were given a standard double which was quite small. Good points - splendid dining room, delicious breakfast, cooked to order when running out on buffet, clean and comfortable bed and room, linen and towels crisp and clean - very pleasant and helpful staff.... more

First thing that greeted us was a large sick stain on the carpet. The Carpet was filthy and covered in stains. The Beds were ancient and uncomfortable. The bedding was dirty as well as all the fixtures and fittings. The ceiling was stained because of water penetration. The bathroom was disgusting with broken loose tiled floor, mold round the bath... more

First trip to Huddersfield and needed a city centre Hotel. The George was perfect. Really nice greeting and welcome by the reception team. The room was clean and comfortable. I had dinner in the restaurant. Only had a main course but this was excellent. Will be back. more
