I used to come here years ago with my family. Not stayed over yet, but cant wait to do so. Food is always delicious and staff are always friendly, this place is right in the middle of nowhere which is ideal. If you want to go as a couple then go in the evenings otherwise be prepared for children as... More

This was a most welcome break for my wife and I at the end of day 3 of the Pennine Way. The room was huge and very clean. It also had a lovely shower/bath. The hosts were very friendly and the food was good. I highly recommend it to anyone who is walking the Pennine Way or who is just... More

I arrived at the Carriage House Inn at about 8 on a Wednesday evening, having walked about 30 miles along the Pennine Way from Edale, the last 10 miles in pouring rain and darkness. I had planned to camp out, but conditions were so rough I really needed a bed for the night. Despite not normally doing accommodation during the... More

Have eaten here numerous times as its very local to home. The food is always delicious but the atmosphere is lacking. If you are a family with children it's ideal as there are lots of toys for the kids to amuse themselves with. If not be prepared for noisy wooden floors plus toy car wheels plus noisy kids. There are... More

On a friend's recommendation I, together with my Wife,Daughter and Grandaughter, visited " The Carriage House" last Thursday evening for a meal. There was a good choice of food from the available menus which were A la Carte,Turkish,Bar Snacks and Childrens. My Wife and Grandaughter chose from the A la Carte and Childrens respectively and my Daughter and I opted for... More

I walked this stretch of the Pennine Way during the June heatwave which meant that I retreated to the shade in the afternoon unable to continue. As I got near to their campsite it had started to get dark. I rang the Inn and panicked down the phone about being too late to get something to eat or a packed... More

We stayed at the Carriage House last Friday evening as we were attending a wedding reception a couple of miles away and we were really impessed with the standard of the rooms and also the breakfast. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts Bev and Simon and the atmosphere in the bar was really friendly. The rooms... More

We visited the carriage house on a Friday evening in July it wasn't especially busy, the food took over an hour to arrive. When it did finally arrive one of your mains was missing we asked the waitress where it was and she never came back to the table with an answer, we ended up venturing into the kitchen ourselves... Stayed here twice now , both times when we did the Pennine Way. This place justs get better. Bev and Simon are superb hosts and as previous reviews have mentioned , the evening food and breakfast are THE best on the Way. Rooms immaculate and Sky TV too. This is a must if staying at Marsden/Standedge!

Stayed here on our Pennine Way Walk in June 2013. Rooms were Impeccable, a real delight. The evening meal and breakfast in the conservatory were very very good. Nothing too much trouble for the owners. This place is a credit to them. Also washing and drying facilities for walkers. Well done.
