We have just stayed at The Old Stables for 4 nights and had a lovely relaxing break. The property is ideally situated, slightly uphill from the Blenheim Gardens. We chose the property for its close location to town and the seafront. We stayed in Apartment 1 on the ground floor due to mobility issues. This had a king size bed and a double sofa bed. The room has a small kitchenette which includes kettle, toaster, microwave, hob, oven, fridge and sink. Everything that you need if you want to cater for yourself. We did use the oven a couple of times as we have a mix of eating out and self catering when we are away and had an Italian takeaway one evening. The room had great wifi and a smart TV which pleased the teenager. The room overlooks the courtyard and the owners property, however we did not feel overlooked or that our privacy was invaded at all. The courtyard was very nice with lovely plants and lights. The parking is on the street outside and this was very quiet. Neil parked his own car there to save us a space to ensure we could get parked after I explained our mobility issues. The room was clean and tidy and the bedlinen was very soft and comfortable. The bed was comfortable with plenty of bedding and pillows provided. There were also 2 heaters provided which we were grateful for as it was quite cold due to the weather. There are 2 radiators in the room which come on and off at set times. The bathroom is large with a really good shower. All towels and linen were provided. They also provide shampoo and conditioner and body wash. Toilet roll was also provided. The room is nicely furnished and has plenty of room for storage. There were also some torches there which was a nice touch as given the weather warning for high winds, we had been worried that the power might go, but thankfully this didn't happen. Neil called us to let us know that the room was ready which was a good couple of hours before we expected to check in, so we were very grateful for that. We were offered milk upon arrival, and there is tea and coffee provided along with bottles of water. We were unlucky with the weather so did spend a bit more time in the room than we expected to, playing cards and just generally chilling out, so we were glad that it was so light and spacious. We did venture out each day trying to dodge the rain showers, visiting the harbour, sea front, amusement arcade (a must for the teen) and some local tea shops. On the one sunny day that we had, we had a good explore of the high street and all the various shops. For supplies, Minehead high street (The Avenue) has a Co-op and a Poundland and we were able to buy everything that we required from there. Location wise, it was a short walk across Blenheim Gardens to The Avenue. The sea front was a short walk down the road. Minehead has a steam train, which although we did not go on this time, we have been on in the past. I highly recommend this property. Our party was a senior citizen, myself and my teenage daughter. We all loved the room and enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again one day.…
