On a recent bike trip four friends became 'geographically misplaced' as luck would have it they stumbled upon this little beauty. Don't let the rugged approach put you off, it is well worth the mud on your wheels! The owner couldn't have done more for us, four bikers arriving unanounced is usually (and had that trip) enough to turn anyone... More

Hi there Chris, and many thanks for finding us and enjoying your stay. Yes, we're in a very special place,so close to town and yet in the woods of Exmoor. It's a bumpy muddy track up to us, but memorable and always worth the effort!! Hope to see you all again soon...on a planned stop over maybe next time... Andrew More

This hostel is by far the cleanest youth hostel we have ever stayed at, and no wonder! you are expected to vacate the building from 10am-12 noon every day whilst it is thoroughly polished and you also have to take your shoes off at the front door. Andrew the manager is a genuinely kind, helpful and hard working chap but... More

Hi there, and many thanks for your very kind words. A homely, informal, cosy atmosphere is something we aim for in this lovely country house...there's even Radio 2 on in the background! Yes, we're crazy about cleaning, so we're so glad you noticed our efforts in making the hostel clean and tidy for you! It's amazing how much you can... More

Arrived at the hostel to see three other families just like us! Excellent location and really helpful staff at the hostel. A well-equipped kitchen with a large dining room which you didn't feel hassled to leave as was adequate for the numbers in the hostel. A great stay.

Follow the directions given by the hosts - they are right when they say sat nav will send you the wrong way. This YHA is in a beautiful location up in the woods. It is friendly and welcoming. I didn't use the bar but it seemed well stocked. The only thing is that having seen the bill following that stay... More

Hi there, and many thanks for your kind words and helpful comments. We are indeed in a most wonderful location and hope to be welcoming to all to this most special part of the world. Many thanks for choosing to stay with us with your friends. The bridleway up to us is indeed a rather muddy and bumpy ride...but hopefully it's all worth the effort in getting to a wonderful house in the woods. Just don't bring the Ferrari next time! All the best, Andrew More

Many thanks for your kind words. I'll pass on your warmth to the others in the team (of which Ken and Maria are volunteers that do an amazing job for the YHA). There's certainly plenty to do all around us without spending too much money or having to drive at all or too far!! All the best, Andrew More

Brilliant stay for a couple of days. Great location, quiet yet close to Porlock, Dunster and the beaches. Friendly and a good kitchen and dining room. Clean and fresh - everyone even takes their shoes off, so take your slippers and feel at home.......

Many thanks for your lovely comments. Yes, we're in a most beautiful spot, far enough away from the thriving town to not hear a thing, yet only 30 minutes walk to the beach. We certainly try very hard to be as clean and tidy as we can be, even during a busy half-term! All the best, Andrew More

We stayed at this hostel at the end of march after 50 mile an hour winds cancelled our camping trip. The hostel is in a beautiful setting off the beaten track (although we had navigation concerns as we were on our way up the track there were lots of signposts to reassure us!). The staff were really friendly and helpful... More

Many thanks for choosing to stay with us...we certainly are off the beaten track in Exmoor, but still only a mile to the shops! Lovely cosy edwardian house , now youth hostel secreted on edge of town at Minehead. Good base for walks or the beach. Set in secluded woods, the kids will love and has deer grazing in gardens at dawn.
