This place is a superb location and having been here as a youngster I am really disappointed that it has been run down so much. The place is untidy and scruffy. The only reasonable thing is the food and is only reasonable. The staff could do with pulling their socks up and smile at their clients or they won't have... More

I went to a meeting at this apology for a 'hotel'. The room was cold, dark and was only chosen because the car park was big enough. It was off season in a slow time of day. There is no excuse for this negligence. Any resemblance between this property and a hostelry is strictly imaginary. The best thing a new... More

This watering hole is as you enter (or leave) a hidden gem! Blue Anchor beach. You can walk from here to Minehead. The pub offers good food indoors or out on an elevated garden area and accommodation too. Although I have never stayed overnight, it is very seasonal dependent so investment has to trickle. Sitting in the sun overlooking the... More

Just had one night at the Blue Anchor and that's enough.Views are superb and our food in the evening was ok as was breakfast.Unfortunately the hotel is well past its best.Grubby and shabby is being kind!Rooms not cleaned properly, bed old and lumpy. The wirering will give you nightmares or a nasty shock absolutely appalling.Only one light which was hanging off the... We walk our dogs regularly at Blue Anchor and use the various pubs and cafe. The Blue Anchor is very dog friendly whilst food is ok but needs some love and attention inside and out. Great play area out side for the kids and the view is spectacular across the bay as they are half way down the hill into... More

I just returned from a family day out with Thomas the Tank Engine which was fab. My wife and kids had a great time and we stayed at this hotel which really was great value for money. Let me start by saying that the views from the clean family room were absolutely amazing, the staff were extremely welcoming making our... More

We spent the weekend @ The Blue Anchor hotel Minehead taking the kids to see Thomas the Tank Engine and was struggling to find accommodation in the area at a reasonable price. A good friend of mine mentioned staying at this hotel and after checking the reviews on Tripadvisor my wife was not so keen to stay! However, after a... More

Yes, this is a tired old hostelry, but I have to disagree with some of the poor reviews. Stayed down the road in our camper van 3/4 September 2013. Went to Blue Anchor hotel twice, dog freindly (very) entertaining Irish folk music live every first wednesday of the month. Didn't eat but grub looked like classic pub fayre, lots of... More

I stayed at the Blue Anchor for 3 nights and had a brilliant time. The location is fantastic and literally sits overlooking the beach. There are unbelievable views from the beer garden and it is truly magnificent to sit outside and watch the sun go down over North Hill. The room rate is extremely reasonable and quite the best value... More

We have just returned from a short break to blue anchor bay with our two dogs and grandchild. We went to the pub for an evening meal/ drinks. The staff were very accommodating and the food was excellent. Everything was piping hot and was plentiful. The pub was dog friendly and our two dogs enjoyed sitting under the able whilst... More
