This is an excellent family-run hotel where guests are made very welcome by Alex and his wife. Alex is a mine of local information and advice which contributes to the overall ambience. It's like staying in an art gallery / library. We would recommend it unreservedly. Graham P

It was a lovely, refurbished house with an ecclectic collection of furniture and artwork. The breakfast was very yummy, and Alex pointed to us the best way around to navigate exmoor national park. The garden, which he encourages you to walk around, is lovely - and it is great to see real 'free range' chickens!

Lovely hotel, ideal location with beautiful views. Alex is an extremely warm and welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable host and nothing was too much trouble for him. Delicious breakfast with local produce, especially eggs from the on-site hens which my ten year old son enjoyed collecting. A great place to stay.

This family-run hotel is just lovely. What can be nicer than friendly, personal attention, clean accommodation,a great breakfast and a lovely atmosphere. Add to that a good location for sight-seeing (helped by advice from 'mine host') and the scene for a great break is set ! Oh, and don't forget the chickens and chicks in the tranquil gardenand their sheep-dog... More

What a superb hotel. Good facilities, with an excellent fresh cooked breakfast. The owner is very friendly and went out of his way to help us find the more remote parts of Exmoor, taking time to mark up a map with possible routes to get the best views. Which without his help we would not have found. Each room is... More

10 friends went for a combined birthdays weekend. The hosts were fabulous, friendly and the food fantastic e.g. fresh eggs from the resident chickens and all locally sourced organic produce. The local knowledge they had of where to go, even on a damp, cold weekend added massively to the enjoyment. The hotel was furnished in a Victorian chic style that... More
