We stayed for two nights on a Groupon deal. Plus points: location (lots to see and do nearby); large room; comfy bed; good shower; very friendly staff; well-equipped room; good coffee. Minus points: tiny bathroom; one bedside light not working; very noisy road nearby; limited menu for dinner and breakfast (dinner because we were Groupon guests); no shelf in shower... More

I booked this hotel as a surprise weekend away for my partner and I, and with all good expectations after being impressed by the website we made are way up to Newbury for our overnight stay. On arrival we were shown to our room and as we walked into the room it was a twin room rather than the double... More

Stayed as visiting Highclere Castle, do not be fooled that your classy weekend will start here. Dark,Dirty,Smelly - arrived shown to a room that was dirty, dark, dank the walk along the corridor was depressing, ripped carpets and dirty. Told reception that our sink was blocked - response cant do anything until tomorrow (after we checked out) Had alerted the... More

We stayed at this hotel after the nearby Pear Tree was flooded and we were unable to stay there. The welcome was incredibly warm, we were thanked for our patience and made our reservations. Despite having to book dinner for 9pm, we were promised to be moved forward if possible and were even upgraded from our initial package (booked through... More

The food was no more than an average 2* hotel despite the Marco Pierre lure ; the dining room décor weird; service slow. Traffic noise from nearby major road. Wouldn't stay here again. Manager blew hot and cold

Stayed here for the second time when travelling in business around the area. Restaurant is nice with quite decent food, big portions, rooms are pretty and service quite ok. There was some traffic noise but as the road was not very busy during the night it did not bother too much. We were looking forward to do a run around... More

We paid £99 for bed and breakfast. Our dinner bill with tip for two people came to £100. Restaurant: - Restaurant service OK - a little slow at times but very polite. - Food presented well and with good portion sizes. - Good atmosphere - nice for a meal with friends or as a couple. Not suitable for children. -... More

Booked for 2 nights DBB with some trepidation having read TA reviews, but pleasantly surprised. Greeted by the lovely Sam on arrival, we found the service terrific, the room clean and the food to a high standard. Yes, could do with more staff and room could be better soundproofed from adjacent A34, but not as bad as some people have... More

Where to begin! We chose this hotel as it was close to Carfest South that we were attending and booked for 3 nights. At £120 per night it is more than we normally pay for a hotel but were enticed by the name of Marco Pierre White and as this was a special weekend were happy to pay the high... More

Entering to register on arrival is by way of the bar, no signage or clear route through this dark and unwelcoming area. Then a trek through a maze of corridors with frayed carpets and carpet runners turned back at the corners to trip the unwary. The room itself was small, a wardrobe with no hanging space at full height and... More
