For our 39th wedding anniversary, my dear sister treated us to our stay. The visit was made so special for us by the staff, especially Sam and Nigel. From our arrival, nothing was too much trouble, Nigel and Sam assisted us in many ways, always with a smile. Katy too, gave us a warm welcome Marco has an excellent team. The food... More

6 of us had a management meeting (discussion) over dinner. Reception was good. starters excellent, we had halved avocados. Not something I've had before as a starter but really nice, especially with the delicious bread. We had a lovely well priced Italian white wine with our starters. For main I had Lamb cooked pink with dauphinoise potatoes. Quite possibly the... More

We did a 2 night stay at the Carnarvon Arms with a Living Social deal and it was great. The hotel is set in a very picturesque part of the world, very peaceful and pretty. It’s pretty much next to Highclere Castle (the house in Downtown Abbey) but you should check whether it’s open first as it’s often closed for... More

We were unable to find anywhere close to Goodwood for our visit to the Festival of Speed and my wife spotted a 2 night offer through living social, 2 nights accommodation, 3 course meal for 2 on both nights and breakfast included for £200, bit of a bargain we thought. I have to say overall we could not really complain... More

The restaurant at Carnarvon Arms was defiantly a treat for two Americans on a British countryside weekend. We were doing the typical Downton off season touring when we stumbled upon this restaurant/pub. The greeting was nonexistent as we arrived at 1 for lunch on a Sunday but the food definitely made up for it. The seasonal salad of halved avocados... More

We did an overnighter to meet our daughter who works nearby. The welcome was excellent and yes some of decor is a little worn and there was an over sight with the loo but otherwise all was fine. The dinner and drinks were excellent and the quality of the ingredients was the noticeable difference. I tried the swordfish, my wife's... More

Booked thru late rooms, taken to 2 rooms both of which had not been cleaned as there were dirty towels inside. I went to the restaurant while they sorted out a room. Dinner was a joke. It was a set menu or nothing, but 2 starters, 2 mains and 3 desserts were all sold out. My substitute rib eye was... More

First impression was good, lovely looking pub but going deeper was highly disappointed! Rooms were what we expected size wise from a country pub but were very dirty lots of dust and the bathroom had seen better days looked like hair in the shower and sink but it just turns out to be lots of cracks so had seen better... Noted all the comments before staying here and can understand the good and bad comments as I think we experienced them all on our two night stay. It's not a corporate type establishment where everything is bland and perfect, the bar area is full of stuffed animals/birds,not my scene, comfortable seating with a good selection of beers and spirits. The restaraunte is unusual... Attracted to hotel by Pierre Marco White reputation. The restaurant and public rooms are excellent BUT don't stay overnight. The rooms are very basic, the en suite shower room so small it's hard to turn around in the shower. The hotel backs onto the A34 and so the traffic noise is intrusive all night long. The windows are not double... More
