Stopped for lunch a couple of weeks ago with a friend. The pub is in a lovely setting and is beautifully furnished. There's a little dog that wanders around which some might find annoying but had no problem with this little guy. His eyes do force you to give away a few chips though. The staff were friendly, and most... More

The Royal Oak is a lovely pub, hotel and restaurant in Yattendon. The staff are friendly and welcoming. However, I do think that some of the meals are way overpriced for what you get. Several of our friends ordered the Thermidor scallops as a starter. The three scallops were so small. We wondered had the chef actually halved them or... More

We just popped in for a light bite while passing but were led astray. Cheerful staff settled us at a table by a log fire and all our good intentions melted away. One of those menus where you could happily chose any of the items and would be tempted to have all of them. but when you visit, whatever you... More

We arrived as a family for lunch without a reservation and were made most welcome. We sat in the garden, as the weather was surprisingly warm for October. The food was good. Dan, who greeted us and brought our drinks, was fun and has an excellent sense of humour. Definitely a people person. One of the other staff (possibly the... More

Our room 'Churchill', mold on the ceiling above the toilet, toilet handle very difficult to use, shower head lime scaled and tiny, water very slow from sink taps. Mattress was thin and hard. Breakfast.....well just didn't happen as the chef had overslept (we were down first at eight)!! We were refunded breakfast charge by the charming young lady who was... More

Warm welcome with all comforts catered for in well decorated country style rooms. Coffee machine in rooms, modern TV, good toiletries, large comfortable bed. Excellent restaurant menu with bar area full of locals and also quieter seating area with leather sofas in front of log fires. Breakfast charmingly served with yoghurt, granola and fruit and wide choice of cooked options.... More

I have eaten here in the past and the food has been excellent, but went for lunch with my daughter today and was very disappointed. I had the set menu which was an aubergine bake with puy lentils. It was the smallest aubergine I have ever seen, which was barely cooked and topped with a tiny sprinkling of breadcrumbs and... More

Two couples stayed two nights in two rooms and ate dinner in the pub both nights. Rooms above the pub were beautiful with very nice ensuite bathrooms. Because this building is several centuries old, the floors are slanted, etc. which I consider part of the charm. Martin assisted in bringing the luggage up the stairs. Breakfasts were very good. Dinners... More

We stayed last weekend for a night and found the pub to be very friendly, clearly extremely popular not only as a pub but also as somewhere to eat (the place was rammed on Sat night). The accommodation was also good, though not exceptional, but then hey its a pub with rooms, not a hotel. The beds were comfy, the... More

Two of us went to the Royal Oak for lunch. The pub was very nice inside and staff friendly. The food however turned out to be very very small portions, bland with not much service. The costs were more akin to a proper restaurant, i.e. table cloths and good waitress service, with decent food. I'm afraid I can only describe... More
