Slightly better than most Travelodges we've used but still very much standard fare. Nice and handy for a nightout in Newbury. Also at the crossroads of routes and options for heading North, South, East or West. never used travelodge before but booked this on-line at sale price. Only read reviews after booking so was dreading going. However we were pleasantly surprised. Ok wouldn't go for a weeks holiday or a special treat with a loved one but for somewhere handy to to get a good nights sleep during a long journey we found this very acceptable.... more

I stayed with two friends and it was awful! The bathroom door had a teaspoon for a handle and the staff were rude and unhelpful. What a dreadful place...!! If you really enjoy listening to traffic during the entire 24 hour stay then go ahead and stop here!! The rooms are dreadful, in need if refurbishment. I stayed here for 2 nights in July 2009. The lock on the bedroom door was broken. The cold water tap serving the basin was not working and there was no hot water in the shower. I had to clean my teeth by placing the toothbrush underneath the cold water in the shower. There was something unpleasant on the bath... more

The room was usual travelodge fare, however we were unable to use the bed settee due to a large (unidentifiable) stain on it. 3 light bulbs missing or did not work, fire doors which should have been shut were hanging open. We decided to stay here, on route from Norfolk to Wales. Location was perfect, however... First impressions were not good with NAZI SYMBOL DRAWN ON WINDOW, which hadn't been cleaned off. An indication was that almost all the doors in our corridor had the ends of screws sticking out where I imagine small hooks to hang "do not disturb" notices on had once been.
