Went for an evening meal, my husband works away and he had been here for a meal about a year ago and he found food had gone down. Food was ok for price, found chips a bit greasy. It's a nice olde worlde pub. Don't think we'd go back.

Whilst we did not stay at the pub, my wife and I with two friends had a very pleasant and inexpensive lunch at the Carpenters and were very pleased with the food and the service. The pub not only has a traditional menu but also a separate selection for the "grey haired brigade". Ex Matelots are particularly welcome as mine... More

Stayed in the family room. Large double room, internal lobby, bathroom, kitchen and separate twin room. Lovely views, restaurant food was great and home cooked. Breakfast fab too - opted for the included cereal and toast which was fine! Perfect place to stay for Highclere Castle which was just a few minutes drive away.

My husband and I stayed at the Carpenters Arms on Sept. 8th. We stayed one night on our way to Highclere castle the next day. We were welcomed by an accomodating hostess and given a key to our room , which was in the building to the right of the pub. Getting into the building was difficult but we did... More

Stayed for one night. Lovely room with a comfortable bed. Great, attentive and welcoming staff. Ate in the pub in the evening, I can highly recommend the Home made Pie. Would definitely stay here again. Reasonably priced accommodation.

We chose this for its proximity to highclere 3 minutes down the road, but we're really surprised by the size of our family room, consisting of a double twin bathroom and kitchenette. Not only that but we received a very warm welcome and they could not have been more helpful

Perfect for our family. Stayed for one night ate in the pub where food and drink were great, pub food just what you need after tackling motorways at rush hour. Staff and locals friendly just how it should be nothing fancy good and honest village bed and breakfast. Thank you will recommend.

We had the family room, exposed beams, open fire place, separate room for the kids and a basic kitchen. Ate in the restaurant, very nice basic food, nothing fancy. The staff were knowledgeable about food intolerances and were happy to suggest alternatives. Although breakfast wasn't included there were cereals, pastries, bread and juices available free of charge. Recommended!

Stayed for one night whilst visiting the nearby Balding racing stable. Friendly welcome from staff and locals. Acccomodation in the converted farmhouse was comfortable , spacious and was furnished with ' character ' The evening meal we had in the pub was very good quality and well priced. Complimentary DIY continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise but was slightly soured... More
