Very good hotel. Except WiFi in my particular room all was fine. Friendly staff, good tea facilities and cookies. Very big and clean room. Different TV channels. Good location. It can be noisy if you have windows on Oxford street.

Firstly I have to say that I have stayed at The Chequers several times before. It has an old world charm and character that I like. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfasts cooked to order and staff very pleasant. Last night's experience is the first bad one I have had there but none the less it did happen. It was... More

Just stayed at the chequers. Fantastic value for money. We enjoyed our weekend stay, ideal location for the town centre. The hotel is a little tired and needs some tlc, which is on going. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A big thank you to Stewart, whos knowledge of Alcholic beverages was first class. We will be returning to this... More

Well worth the £49. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Even after locking myself out of my room within minutes of arriving. Location is the best as in the middle of town. Car park was secure and water in bathroom was always hot.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights this week at the recommendation of a coworker because it is right in town and close to our headquarters. I had a room in the back of the hotel which they call the annex. While I liked the fact that the room was in the back and was in a quiet area, what... More

The hotel is in absolutely excellent location, being right at the end of the High Street. This puts you within very easy walking distance of the town with it's pubs, restaraunts and shops. To be honest, in my experiance, that's pretty much the good points. Our room was tired, a long walk with several sets of stairs from reception, and... More

Where to start. Miserable woman on reception, you almost feel like you're interrupting her. Room - knackered mattress, couldn't be bothered to go back down six flights of stairs to resolve, as figured that would be frowned upon. Breakfast - if you don't mind deep fried sausages and deep fried mushrooms, burnt hash browns, half a tomato advertised as 'vine... More

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst on business in the area. Historical building in the centre of town, great location. Ample parking. Pleasant double room with bath on the 1st floor, if a little faded around the edges. Facing the rear so no noticeable road noise, slept well. Good selection at self service breakfast, although did have to ask for... More

Stay here on a last minute booked, not the best looking from the outside but once you get through the doors its just gorgeous. Our room was huge even with a sofa, which was totally unexpected. Nice deco or very friendly staff. Nice clean and tidy and nice warm roos in the winter months. Will be sure to stay here... More
