Gothic hotel doubles with Golf Club. Beautiful building, golf course, river, lakes, country walks, all within a stone throw of Newbury Town and several attractive villages. Food, staff, rooms were excellent. Only down was that most rooms were in outside buildings and thus a walk of up to 100 metres - ok in fine weather but not so if rain, wind,... More

Stayed here recently for a wedding. Fantastic grounds, lovely building, staff all welcoming, friendly, and gave great service. Food all day was truly stunning, really first class. Rooms great too. Not a single thing to complain about.

We've stayed here quite a few times and it's clear that the hotel is making a great effort to provide good service. The location on a beautiful golf course is quiet and peaceful. The rooms in the separate part to the hotel are spacious, nicely furnished and the shower in the wet room is excellent. Lovely fluffy towels and good... More

Whilst being our way to the West-coast we stayed over in the Donnington Grove Hotel and Country Club in Newbury. We were pleasantly surprised when entering the grounds of the hotel. At first you have to drive partly across the fairways. Be aware of flying golf balls but no helmets needed. :-) We stayed just outside the main building in... More

Stayed in lovely twin room, plenty of space and big ensuite with bath. Very comfy beds and pillows but stuffy as sash windows limited to 6inch opening and no aircon on one of hottest nights of the year! Dinner and breakfast both excellent, as were drinks on the terrace in the evening sunshine. For a "golf" hotel, the standard felt... More

My husband and I play golf off handicaps 5 and 12 respectively and we found the course to be excellent. Unfortunately, the weather had it in for us, but even still the greens were well kept and the course made you think on every shot. The course is long, due to quite a walk between front and back nines. The... More

Stayed for two nights with friends. The hotel sits in the middle of a golf course, the building itself looks old but is pretty well maintained considering the age of both the structure and the interior finishes. We had a nice walk around the grounds and ventured to look at the ruins of Donnington Castle which offers great views. We... More

Ihave just spent the most fabulous weekend with 11 of my family to celebrate my 70th birthday and the hotel staff were fantastic. Nigel the manager and Roxy the reception manager with the help of Arron arranged an up grade for my wife Melody and myself from twin room to the bridal suit, so that all 11 of us were... More

I booked our stay via a Living Social offer, for our wedding anniversary, purchasing a deal for 2 nights bed and breakfast, which included afternoon tea and a bottle of prosecco. The hotel gave us a free upgrade to an executive room which was superb, We dined in the restaurant on the first night, and the menu was reasonable priced... More

I stayed here with my family, via a Living Social offer, purchasing a deal for 2 nights bed and breakfast, which included afternoon tea and a bottle of prosecco for 6 rooms. My parents booked an addition night as it was to celebrate my fathers 70th Birthday. Not only did they upgrade my parents to the bridal suite, the hotel... More
