Stayed here 2 nights mainly because we bought tickets to visit Highclere castle and wanted a stopover close to it. This hotel looks more impressive from the outside than the inside. On our arrival there was a wedding photo shoot outside in the driveway with the entire congregation so we couldn't find a park for the car to start with.... More

This is a lovely hotel, with friendly staff. It could be modernised but then would loose some of its old stately home charm that sets it out from other commercial group hotels. The food is excellent, the grounds are amazing, it's quirky with hundreds of geese on the lawn, the opportunity to play golf or have a days clay pigeon... More

Gorgeous building set in lovely grounds. It felt like we were miles from anywhere! The rooms were big, bright and airy but I thought they could be cleaner; I dropped something off the TV table so I moved the table and was horrified to discover all the cobwebs! Also the bath mat had perished into the bath and there was... More

Excellent place to stay. Stayed for my husbands 50th which included battle proms at high Clare castle. Me and my husband were in the pavilion suite which was idyllic. The rest of the family were in twins. All rooms were of a high standard. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were all very helpful and did everything... More

Very good one night stay in a lovely large double room with 2 Chandeliers. Very good service with free ice bucket and a fan for the hot weather. Very wide choice at breakfast but we got lost on the way to the dining room. Golf course and lake give excellent views. The 18th century manor house was owned by Beau... More

I loved the quaintness of the hotel, actual keys for rooms not key cards! The rooms were clean and comfy and a good breakfast. The grounds and surrounds are beautiful. Would make a lovely setting for a wedding. For golfers the course looked in very good condition. Would certainly recommend.

A lovely location, beautiful grounds. A very charming old place to stay. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant were all incredibly friendly and helpful. It is a little old fashioned, but even after coming from an ultra modern hotel in London, it did not bother me. Be advised, it is a little isolated. So, if you want to... More

I have just had my 25th wedding anniversary party here and from start to finish the service and staff were exceptional. Worthy of note is Katarina who is front of house, she was not only professional but kind and courteous throughout. We had over 100 guests throughout the evening, with many staying in the hotel - all commented on a... More

For anyone wanting to visit Highclere Castle for the Downton Abbey experience , this is the place to stay, though only if you have your own transport. It's a lovely old manor house built in the 1700s and the one drawback is the lack of an elevator so we couldn't stay in the 3rd floor room assigned to us ,... More

Two old friends travelling together needing a twin room with a bit of room. We were very happy with our room in the main building. It was large, very clean and well kept. The staff were bright, helpful and welcoming. We ate in the dining room where the staff were again friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and well... More
