Very comfortable, cosy bedroom, spacious shower room. Very friendly welcome from the staff, good breakfast. What we liked most was visiting a pub that is used by locals as a place to socialise, it is not a flashy eating house, but a very welcoming public house. The evenings meals are pub meals, good and filling.

Stayed in room 3, above the bar, and could hear every word from downstairs. Toilet was dirty — I cleaned it as I didn't want anyone thinking I'd left it in that state. Went down for breakfast just before 8.30. There was a pot of coffee but no milk, no sign of life in the dining room at all. I... More

Popped into the George and horn for a meal ( friday 18th september 2015 ), I had the chilli and rice, very tasty not to spicy, hubby had lasagne and garlic bread both very nice meals. Would recommend the food and the George and Horn.

Definitely recommended if passsing through the village or staying for a few days. Welcomed at first meeting by professional staff and gave us a hand with our bags. Very rare in a small country pub. Dined on our first night and being offerd the new menu with the classic pub grub and a wide variety on the specials board. The... More

Totally unacceptable on every level! The whole room was broken and filthy. Obviously no effort made to have any standards. There was a hole in the window pane, the window was screwed shut and the whole frame was leaving the wall. The TV had a combination of twisted wire coat hangers stuck into an aerial booster that buzzed loudly. The... More

Arrived here alone and was immediately made to feel welcome. The bar was full of locals all chatting together, lots of banter and then the fire station guys arrived too so it was a friendly place to be in, even for a lady travelling alone! The room I had was a good size, the bed and bedlinen were excellent, the... More

The linen and beds were very comfortable and the room for three was a good size. But the toilet didn't flush properly and we waited 40 minutes for our breakfast which was not what we ordered anyway. The choice of cereals didn't include muesli or granola or yoghurt and there wasn't a jug of water available.

Got a late booking, looks fab from outside and has good parking with excellent smoking gazebo. When we got there the restaurant was closed due to a technical hitch, online the menu had looked really good value. The bedroom was very small above the bar, no noise but accessed via an incredibly narrow staircase and room so small double bed... More

Booked this room as we were visiting Highclere Castle and this was only 15 minutes away. The first room we were given (No. 2) was above the main bar but was in a really bad state of repair, large brown patches on the ceiling, brown stains on the bed bases, dirty toilet and dusty window cills. Even the television aerial... More
