Our room was nicely appointed, with comfortable bed, excellent shower, decent TV and wifi, I'd say it was snug and felt homely. The pub was busy with good beer and standard pub food that was very reasonable and well cooked. All in all a good find for the price.

We had lunch here last week, after a beautiful walk on Whie Hill. We were welcomed with a smile and did not have to wait long for our meal. The food and plates were hot and we can honestly say that it was one of the best pub meals we've had. We both had the lasagne and it was delicious with... More

Located in a pleasant rural village close to the M4 corridor, and convenient for the South Coast. The menu offers a good and varied range of dishes, and the bar area is traditionally furnished and decorated. Rooms are comfortable, if a little dated, and quiet

The best bit about the hotel was the Receptionist, who did her job very professionally, sadly it was downhill after that. Room was in urgent need of decorating with walls and ceiling in poor repair. Shower was small and grubby. Bathroom was poor. Pub food was ok but breakfast was mediocre and service was slow considering not many people there.... More

Stayed as it was only 8 miles from CarFest and allowed early start. As other reviews explained, this is used by commercial travellers so several white vans in car park, but also meant that bar had some atmosphere. Just managed to get into car park at 8pm. Met at reception by very friendly & helpful lady who soon settled us... More

A really old pub, the only one open in Kingsclere as the other two are closed for a refurbishment. Welcome on arrival was friendly and directed us to the restaurant area. Meals and drinks ordered without any problem They arrived in a timely fashion, fairly well presented and nice and hot. The server however was somewhat dishevelled and grubby which... More

We turned up at this place after a long days work, we booked the night before on LateRooms.com. Got to the bar to check in, and we were told by this extremely rude woman that they had booked our room out this morning to somebody else so they did not have to pay the commission. I could not believe what... More
