Just had three nights at The New Southlands Hotel, the welcome we recieved was very warm and freindly andthis set the scene for the weekend as all the staff worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant staff were efficient and friendly but a special mention to sarah who worked her little socks off but was always cheerful and efficient.... more

We were on a 3-day self-drive break booked online, at short notice, in response to Shearings press ads. On arrival the car park was full up, however the hotel reception gave me a pass which enabled me to park our car on local streets without charge and without fear of a ticket. The next day spaces in the hotel car... more

Went with Shearings for a 4 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room we had was great but we did pay extra for it as it was classed as a superior room and it certainly was. It had recently been decorated and was huge. My wife dropped a glass in the bathroom as we were settling in but within... more

Reception was polite and the restaurant service was very good having said that the food was awful, was glad for the last two days I discovered porridge for breakfast! The room was very small, but was just about OK, no face flannel in the bathroom, had to go and buy one from Boots! Entertainment OK but more or less the... more

After reading mixed reviews we were unsure of what to expect at New Southlands Hotel -swayed by reports of good entertainment on offer we decided to select this hotel to celebrate the New Year. We were not disappointed- Daniel Defoe was a warm, friendly and entertaining all round host and the cabaret acts each night were super. Dining room staff... more

We have just returned from a four night five day stay at this hotel. It was the first time my wife and I had taken this type of holiday and it will certainly not be the last. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment work but for all that the place was very clean, the staff were very helpful and pleasant... more

We booked this hotel with Shearings as a drive and stay weekend break having read favorable reviews of the hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and the room was nice and comfortable. The entertainment provided was very good and the host worked extremely hard to ensure that everyone felt welcome and was enjoying themselves. The bar was very reasonably... more

Stayed here for the weekend whilst attending a conference in Scarborough and will not be returning. Room looked tired - paper peeling off walls in bathroom, furniture a hotch potch, windows thick with dirt, food uninspiring. Location handy however. more

We were a party of 13 ranging in age from 31 to 64,and had one of our best holidays ever. Our group consisted of adults with Learning Disabilities and carers. In the past we have experienced decidedly cool welcomes in certain hotels, but the New Southlands welcomed us with open arms. The hotel is spotless with extremely comfortable bedrooms. The food is... more
