Booked in for a Saturday night and was told on arrival that there was no evening meal available because the hotel was empty! Luckily we had already decided to eat out. Room was supposedly a 'premier' but was old fashioned, sash windows rattled throughout the night (single glazed) and sofa in room was worn and threadbare. No glasses in room... More

we took out small children there they are now 22 and 25 and it was appalling then in fact the rooms and carpets look the same . We had a shared bathroom if I remember it was terrible I wanted to go home .You certainly wouldn't walk about with bare feet !

This is my fourth stay at the Red Lea with our dance group-about 50 of us..The management ans staff give top class service from the moment of arrival until departure. It's almost like family. The rooms are very good, comfortable and clean and the public areas well attended. The pool is a nice facility (it was a bit cold this time) but the... More

My expectation for this hotel was that it was old fashioned- no other place was available near sea, however I did not expect our room would have a fusty smell that did not disappear when the sash window - with broken cord was opened. Even less did I expect that the lower window top - inside the room thus exposed... More

Booking quite late we had asked for twin room. Although it had sea view it was very very small and TV was on dressing table obscuring the mirror. We went to reception and asked if they had a bigger room and they immediately gave us a key to see what we thought of a room two doors away. This was... More

We stayed here for 3 nights during half-term and thought it good value for money. We had a 'suite' on the 3rd floor - double bed in the main part and a side room off with single bed, so quite a lot of space. The views across the South Bay were lovely. Only problem, as others have mentioned, is poor... More

We stayed 1 night as part of a mini break walking on the east coast This hotel is exactly what we would expect for this type of hotel given the location and price, It was clean, tidy, warm very pleasanr staff but all a little dated and well worn. We declined the evening meal after reading the reviews and looking... More

The Red Lea hotel is in an excellent, quiet position that is close to the funicular railway to the beach and promenade with really spectacular views across the bay to the south. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights at the same time as delegates for a Rotary conference that was being held in the town. Check-in was interesting;... More

A large number of us stayed at the Red Lea as part of a Conference group. As usual in these instances, room prices shoot up, over the quoted rate for the following week . The following weekend ,we stayed at a four star Crowne Plaza in another part of the country for considerably less money, and more modern facilities. Pro's... More

Stayed at the 3 star Red Lea Hotel for 4 nights and had a very nice time. The staff are so friendly and helpful, very refreshing these days. The room was a nice size, very comfortable with sea views. Only criticism was the windows were not double glazed so misted up a bit. We had breakfast and dinner included. It... More
