Jan 1, 2010 | Trip type: Friends getaway New

booked the hotel for 1 night with friends to celebrate new year, service was excellent & recommendations on places to eat & pubs to visit was spot on. Rooms a little small but spolessly clean and everything available for you. Breakfast was lovely & we will definately be returning, just to sit in the window seats with a glass of... more

We have just spent the weekend in at the Riviera and had a lovely time. Although it was a cold weekend it didn't spoil our visit. We were greeted at reception with a warm smile and was told if we needed anything else just to ask. The room was very nice and clean with plenty of space and warm. The... more

my husband and i stopped here for 2 nights on a short break, the room was fairly small and quite tired in decoration and the tv wasnt working properly, however the room along with the en-suite was very clean and the bed very comfortable. the breakfast was superb, plenty to eat and super choice, and the waiting staff were lovely... more

There is an old saying that "a man without a smile shouldn't open a shop" the same should apply to hotel keepers. I found this to be a poor value hotel. i paid £60 for a small double room with a mildewed bathroom, and old crt television with no remote. Staff at breakfast were pleasant, efficient and helpful - probably... more

I have to write this as a warning ! please don't go here, the hotel is really bad ,the owners themselves should never be in charge of a hotel ,no skills on people pleasing. The rooms are barely furnished, damp and uncomfortable. The TV was ancient. the quilts on the bed was far too large and bulky all the floor... more

Just got back from staying here and thought I'd write a review as I've had a great time. The hotel is less than a minutes walk into the town centre, yet a quiet location. The hotel has about 20 rooms, all en-suite. Had a look at both the standard and superior rooms, not much different, apart from bigger in size,... more

Stayed for one night at easter. Check in was good, room and bathroom clean, quiet and modern with nice toiletries, bed very comfortable, shame about the very old, (no remote!) tv. we had a partial sea view Breakfast was good, though when we were there the room needed decorating. Staff were helpful and kept our baggage. The mini eggs on... more

I have been going to Scarborough for over 30 years and stayed in many hotels, some good some bad but the Riviera is by far the best little hotel I've stayed in. My family and I stayed for three nights in a family superior room ( room 8 ) which consisted of a double bed and a single with a... more

We had originally booked to stay in The Grand Hotel which the hotel cancelled 72 hours before our break as the renovation was not complete. They recommended the Riviera which was just across the road and what a blessing that turned out to be. The Riviera was a small B&B which was immaculately decorated, it has a lovely lounge and... more

We have just come back from another great stay at the hotel. We decided to go for valantines night and were not dissapointed. The room was great the view was lovely and the staff were more than helpful. We have stayed there three times now and each time has been better than the first. No complaints. more
