we have stayed at the Ambassador several times, most recently as a short break on our 44th wedding anniversary.Rooms have always been clean and the sea-view premiers excellent.Good food and good service.Occasional glitches-no parking permits at the start of our latest visit-but nothing I would make an issue of. We used to stay with our dog, before she recently passed away, and... more

We were asked to pay upfront for the full week on arrival despite having been previous guests, apparently a new policy, which we had not been informed of when we booked. However the duty manager was courteous and civil and dealt well with our annoyance well. All the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful. We had a very... more

After my arrival at the hotel, I registered and went to my bedroom. I noticed the loo didn't look clean although the loo paper was nicely triangled so decided to check the bed. On drawing back the sheets noticed they had been slept in. They refused me a change of room but did change the sheets and clean the loo.... more

My partner and I stayed at the hotel to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary. We stayed in a Premier room which was spacious and had great sea views. The pool was lovely and warm and we found the hotel very clean. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Can't wait to go back. more

Nice location and looked good from the outside and also the website. We had a so call prestige sea view room. The room furniture was old and scratched. The carpet was old and dirty. The bed was cheap with a nasty uncomfortable mattress. The bathroom was tiny with just enough room for one person. Mould in the white sealant. And... more

Upon booking we paid the full going rate for this room, (not discounted) and asked for a spacious first floor room with a sea view. We were subsequently given an extremely small lower ground floor room with the view of a wall / bank. It appears that there was a coach trip in at the time and they appeared to... more

The staff were polite, but not friendly (they acknowledged my presence, but without a flicker of a smile or friendliness). In the dining room when I asked where to sit for breakfast, I was shown to a table, then asked for my name and room number, whereas everyone else was simply served without interrogation. I heard someone else ask about... more

Arrived at Scarborough approx 1 pm and went to the Ambassor Hotel to book infor a two night stay and ask for a parking permit. The receptionist advised me the room would not be ready until 3pm. The room was costing £119.00 per night bed and breakfast with a sea view. We went back to the hotel at 5.10pm and... more

Having written to you personally after the problems which occured after booking into the Ambassador I am quite disappointed that rather than contact me to discuss the matter you have chosen to vent your anger in your review.
