It is very rare we stay at one place more than once but this was our third visit to The Castle by the Sea. After our second visit earlier in the year decided to spend the Christmas break there and it ticked all the boxes. We had a really excellent time. It is hard to quantify what makes this place... more

Recently stayed here for the first time over the weekend with wife, teenage daugher, our small dog, mum and dad, cousin, and brother his wife and their very large dog. Had a smile on my face as soon as I arrived and it never left whilst I was there. Perfect location, all attractions with walking distance, and the views from... more

The hotel is well kept and John and Janet are excellent hosts. Although the weather was mixed John advised us where to go on wet days. With his recommendations we enjoyed the wet days as much as the sunny days. Breakfast is excellent and we did not eat lunch as it stocked us up for the day. On one of... more

Good location, hosts very friendly, however guest house needs a refurbishment and a good clean. Room we stayed in (room 4) has "view" of rear yard / washing line! Shower room had rough repair on door, broken sink and toilet seat. This has so much potential, but sadly did not live up to the 4 star billing. more

We stayed for 3 days at the hotel and have an extremely pleasurable experiance from start to finish. The hosts (John and Janet) were very accomodating and went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay. Service and friendliness was second to none. The rooms were very nice and breakfast was delicious. The children all thoroughly enjoyed... more

Booked at the last minute. went with my husband and 13 and 10 year old children. The location of the hotel is second to none, the views from the terrace are stunning. The breakfast was excellent quality, we also enjoyed a gorgeous crem tea. Alot of the food is home made by Janet and was lovely. Both Janet and John... more

I found this hotel on the internet and not surprisingly it has loads of great reviews. The hospitality was friendly and just so relaxed and calm. The house itself is interesting and atmospheric with the castle just behind it (bathed with the sunshine or ocasional sea mist), the lovely church of St Mary's just opposite with the grave of Anne... more
