First of all I was blown away by the interior as soon as I entered the main glass doors. I was greeted to a grand staircase that was reminiscent of being aboard a ship akin to Titanic. There was even a perhaps purposely placed clock just where the clock was on Titanic's grand staircase. Bear in mind that this is... More

On arrival nowhere to park, had to park away from hotel. Foyer not very inviting and when we arrived in our rooms what a dissapointment. Old and dated, bath with no attachment to wash hair. Pillow filthy, windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. We were moved to different rooms which weren't much better but by this time... More

I stayed here for just 1 night, found it a bit dated and being a guy by himself in mid 20's felt a bit awkward as i was youngest person in ther by a good 40 years! I guess it would be nice place to stay for the older generation, quiet, comfy, welcoming. I would recomend anybody wanting a bit... More

We visited the Royal Hotel on Saturday 22nd. August for an evening meal. We chose to eat here partly because we fancied a change from both standard ‘Italian chain’ restaurants and British ‘pub grub’ but also because the venue looked nice coupled with offering a very, very inexpensive menu. The Royal Hotel is nearly 200 years old and is quite... More

on arrival I was impressed with decor, especially the large grand staircase. Our room was 347 on 3rd floor , the whole floor was in need of a lick of paint. Our room was clean and tidy but in need of a lick of paint also. The window frame was rotten and it wouldnt open. The staff were friendly and... More

A lovely charming building, we have stayed here around 12 times now. The only times we had cause to complain, was when we booked a sea view room, and the one we were given (room 312) had one, but only if you pressed your face against the window and looked to the extreme left. They moved us to a frankly,... More

We stopped in a family room and it was massive!! Big bedroom with 2 pull out single beds and the biggest ever bed!! There was also a long hall way with a bathroom full of toiletries! There was also a lounge with 2 sofas, dinning room table, tv etc. Beautiful sea views from the windows. We just wanted a hotel... More

We stayed at the royal hotel for a weekend break the room was nothing like the photo . It was two single beds pushed together there was cobwebs on the ceiling and bird poo on the net curtains the room was very warm and had no air conditioning. On a good point the shower was hot, but if you was... More
