My partner and I visited the Norbreck with Shearings for three nights (8th.till 11th.May 2015).As you approach the hotel it is quite obvious that it is in need is of some serious refurbishing. The reception (smallest front desk Inhave ever seen)went quite smoothly, and we found our sea view room on the 1st floor. This room 101 the only room with a bay... Typical tired hotel run by Shearings. The food was very good and the staff were very helpful but the decor especially in the corridors was diabolical. It needs a complete refurbishment. The hairdryer ( at least 20 years old ) burnt out and although they provided a newer one they did not take out the old one as promised. I... More

I like to give positive reviews but I find it hard in this instance. The saving factors were the staff, who were always helpful and friendly followed by the quality of the food. The room was small; as was the en-suite. The extractor fan did not work in the en-suite so after a shower the bedroom also become steamy and... More

The dinning room overlooks mostly the bay and headlands, its lovely, they need to put in double glazing though as the windows steamed up at times and would I am sure cut down the heating bills.. Our rooms overlooked St Mary,s Church ( and is a must to vist, go... More

Many reviewers seem to moan about the most trivial of things.."l had to stir my own tea" that sort of nonsense. To them l say "put a sock in it"....however, I was surprised and not at all pleased to find an old sock in the middle of the bedroom floor when l checked into this hotel. Clearly a sign that... Visited in Aug 14. Our room was badly in need redecoration curtains dirty and torn. Carpet stained. Food of poor quality, really struggle to find anything positive to say about our stay except for the sea view which was very pleasant.

My wife gave me 24 hours notice that she wanted a weekend in Scarborough and had a hotel in mind. This was a Brittania which rated 26out of 28 on TA with dire reviews so I said no way. After a quick bit of research we found the Norbreck which is a bit higher up the list and proved to... More
