When I go to stay at a hotel I want Comfort,Cleanliness, and Service. In this hotel I got all three. I didn't worry about it being 'dated' at all.The food was superb and the staff were very helpfull. I had my own mobility scooter and was allowed to keep it in the hall for my use as needed. Sure, there were... more

You take pot luck with your room some are large some are cramped. most bedrooms seem to have hand basins in bedroom rather than bath/shower room. The meals were acceptable but not as good as the rather pretenious menu would suggest. The staff were friendly and efficient. The sash windows in the dining room were uncomfortably drafty for thus unfortunate... more

We have just had yet another trip to this very good hotel. The rates are very reasonable, everything is very clean, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. It is a quiet hotel and seems to cater mainly for older people (I am in my mid-forties and on many of our visits have been apparently the youngest guest by... more

Hotel and food was ok but you have to leave your car keys at reception because short of parking spaces. Whoever moved my car did something to the gear box an I had to call the RAC to fix it and lost my no claims bonus after 3 years. It was a short break for my 80 yr old Mothers... more

This Hotel was in the AA guide pets welcome, however we were disappointed with the room which as a twin with 2 people and 2 dogs was very small. I suspect this is the room which all dog owners are put in- so beware. The hotel was also very hot, even with all heating turned off in the room. On... more

My wife and I stayed here for a 2 night break in March. We stayed in the York Suite which is a few yards away from the main hotel, but is worth the walk! A beautiful sitting room on the seafront with magnificent views of Lyme Bay. A smallish bedroom, but extremely comfortable. The service and attention to detail was... more

A nice quiet hotel. Very clean and good level of service from most staff. Most guests were elderley and this is reflected in the night time entertainment. The food, (and serving of it ),was very high standard. All local shop keepers very friendly and approachable. Good 18 hole golf course in Sidmouth with discounted rates for guests of hotel. If... more

I have just returned from a short weekend break to this hotel where I was meeting a group of friends from different parts of the country. Ages ranged from 20's to 70's. Upon arrival we were met by staff who could not have been more courteous if they tried. Our luggage was whisked away to our room magically whilst I... more

We stayed in November 2008 and again for Christmas 2008 and just cannot fault the hotel. Yes, they do take coach parties which tend to be older folk but this allows the business to continue as this must surely be the bread & butter. It does mean however, that for private guests all the facilities are there at all times... more
