Nothing was too much trouble for the efficient staff at this splendid hotel. Although at first sight the ambience appears to be very formal, in fact it disguises a warm and friendly approach to its guests. We stayed two nights over the Easter break and were impressed by so much - the beautiful setting, clean and comfortable rooms, modern bathroom... more

Our 17 strong family party descended upon the hotel during the busy Easter period when most catering establishments are at thier busiest, it has to be said that they did'nt bat an eye lid at our collection of teenagers and babies and the staff throughout the hotel were superb. Previous reviews have remarked upon the fact that most of the... more

Our first visit to Sidmouth and we were very pleasantly surprised. This is a very good traditional hotel with excellent standards of staff courtesy, cleanliness and comfort. Quality does not come cheap. The restaurant rule on wearing a jacket and tie seemed a little dated but sets the tone, based on traditional values - including very small after dinner coffee... more

Stayed here on business while in the area. An outstanding experience. Room was fabulous - on the second floor, facing to the sea, with a private balcony. Have never been in a cleaner room - spotless. Great desk with plenty of room to work and good access to plugs etc for computers. Wireless broadband available (BT Openworld for which you... more

My wife and I were in desperate need of a relaxing weekend break after a pretty stressful Christmas, so we chose to take advantage of an excellent deal to pay our first visit to the Victoria, having stayed a year ago at the Belmont next door. Both hotels are owned by the Brend family, so we knew that the standard... more

We took a weekend break at the Victoria, our third visit in ten years. I am pleased to say the standard is as high as ever. The whole hotel looks immaculate, service is friendly and attentive, our room was excellent, particularly the bathroom. The highlight of our stay has to be the dinner in the hotel restaurant. Excellent service and delicious... more

We took my father-in-law here for a weekend for his 80th birthday. While the hotel was ideal for him, for us it was a depressing place full of elderly pensioners (and we are no spring chickens ourselves, being 53!). However, it just wasn't our style. On arrival, the receptionist told us that because we had booked the "room only" deal... more

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at this hotel - as long as you have a wonderful stay, and I did!! Reception organised a room service breakfast at 06:30 am as I had an early departure - at no extra charge. On a previous visit we had been to a funeral and didn't feel like going to the... more

Just back from a night here to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Expensive as we had a deluxe seaview room with balcony. Room 106. Worth every penny. Everything was lovely. The view , service and the fantastic weather made it. I'd definitely go back. Only downside, cold breakfast table was cleared away at 9:40. Breakfast is advertised til 10! But a... more

I must start this review by saying that it is one of my favourite Hotels, having first 'discovered' the Victoria during my first stay for New Year 2006 into 2007, I have since returned to the Hotel about 8 times! I must add that I take mainly shorter breaks of 3 - 5 nights at the Hotel as I also... more
