This hotel is a very nice place to stay. It has a Victorian period atmosphere carefully blended with modern comforts. The staff are friendly and efficient. Problems are sorted with a smile and speed. The restaurant manager is always on the ball and dietary requests dealt with promptly. Food is very good but perhaps could be more varied. It is... More

Stayed at the Royal Glen this weekend for a family get-together - in all there were 12 of us of varying ages. Its a lovely quaint hotel in a great location just behind the Victoria Hotel. I have read through some of the reviews and whilst there aren't many bad ones I still think people are really unfair! Ok so... More

We had three very relaxing days last week, food and service all that you could wish for. O,K, its not 'Bijou'. With its history would you expect it or want it to be? Just a very well run hotel which tries to make your stay as relaxing as possible. All staff most helpful and restaurant service excellent. We will be back.

We stayed here for six nights and had a wonderful experience. The room was comfortable and the bathroom excellent, the shower was exceptional. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The cleaning lady is lovely she comes from Spain and has a great sense of humor. The breakfast is tasty and fresh. All in all a place to recommend. The... More

I have had the pleasure of staying at many very good hotels but have never written a hotel review. Until now, for the reason that I was incensed by John from London's unbelievable comments. My husband and I had a relaxing and most enjoyable break at the Royal Glen, and would highly recommend it. The food was excellent and the... More

This Hotel was a beautiful hotel in a good position (only a short walk to sea and town centre). We had a superior room in the new wing. The room and its facilities were excellent, in fact better then most 4* hotels we have stayed in. Extremely clean. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. We felt the evening meal some evenings... Quirky, quaint charming little place. Ideal for us with friends living near by, our little dog was made welcome our room opened on to sitting area which made for easy access, avoiding main reception area. The staff all seemed very helpful, would stay again x

This hotel is existing on its history, Victorian Royalty connection and admittedly its very nice, unusual building. Hotel rooms tired. New mattresses needed. Do NOT eat in the restaurant. Breakfast adequate at best. Dinner disastrous! Food very ordinary: Flat Mushroom covered with "Paxo" stuffing, Dry. Navarin of lamb, small bowl, quite tasty, RAW vegetables. Boring desserts: Dry Bakewell tart -... More

Thank you for making a review, I don't believe we exist on history, more despite it; It is a very hard task. We are just a small family business who treat every guest as an individual and do not have the backing of a large group behind us for investment. Unfortunately with this particular review organization it is anonymous so... More

We knew of the Royal Glen as friends of ours regularly stay there when visiting the UK, so we thought we'd treat ourselves over the Bank Holiday weekend. Parking very difficult, with tight, awkward spaces on both levels of car park. We stayed in rooms 3 and the garden room. Room 3 needs updating, with a heavy wooden built-in wardrobe... More

Thank you for taking the time to make a review. We are very sorry that your experience was less than satisfactory. Guest comments are looked at seriously as the family & staff take them personally. Parking is indeed tight, unfortunately we are on a triangular plot on different levels as we sit into the slope making 25 spaces. We continue... More

From the start, the staff were helpful, polite. the room was just as per the brochure, dinner was quick and again the staff were polite and respectful. Good nights sleep and again breakfast was a pleasant experience. Over all I would stay again without hesitation. Thank you.
