We had a requirement for a hotel whilst my wife was in hospital in Exeter and discovered this place via booking.com. We did not know it was a Christian holiday centre until I did some research but were happy as a Christian that we found it. We were in the annex which is a very run down building with some... More

We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel the week after Easter as I had found an amazing price deal on booking.com. That meant we were staying in the annex which was kind of a cross between a hotel and hostel. Hostel like in that bathrooms were shared (not once did I have to wait though) and hotel like... More

Have just spent a 5 night stay at Sidholme for a country dancing holiday. Very good food, clean comfortable room, friendly guests and staff. The dancing was led by Graham, who was excellent and introduced us to new dances as well as enjoying familiar ones in the evenings. I shall look forward to going back to Sidholme the next time... Spent this weekend at the hotel, with my family. Beautiful old building, we stayed in the anexe in a twin room. Basic room, only problem was heating. It was on all the time couldn't be adjusted. Decor dated in hotel, money saved on heating could be used on decorating. Very peaceful hotel, staff all lovely and made you feel welcome.... More

Dear Linda H, Thank you for your positive review.Your comment on the heating is a fair one, unfortunately we do not have individual thermostats for each room, and we do try to maintain a comfortable temperature on a daily basis, but due to varying demands, it can be a bit tricky. We look forward to welcoming you back to Sidholme. More

My sister and I stayed at Sidholme Hotel for three nights over the Easter bank holiday. I agree with other travellers, the building and decor is dated, but if redecorated it would take a lot of the character away from it. Although we chose to eat out, we were made extremely welcome and could have changed our minds at any... More

Stayed for 3 nights at the Sidholme, beautiful building but sadly neglected needs money spent on it. After my first night I had to ask for a new mattress as I had spent the night trying to sleep on the springs sticking through and when I removed the covers the mattress was really badly stained, The breakfast was lovely, evening... The atmosphere, the staff, the food were lovely. BUT the radiator in my room could not be adjusted and the windows did not open. It was stifling. Another couple said they put towels over their radiators to try and keep the heat down. Not good enough Sidholme!

This is a grand old hotel with lots of history, which has been cared for well. Most of the guests in this hotel on my visit were 65 and over. The room was clean and basic with a shared bathroom. The hotel has some lovely grounds with well established plants and trees. In the grounds can be found a large... More

This was a last minute, E-bay special, bed &breakfast booking for a long weekend. We were in the annex (about 50 mtrs from the main hotel) twin room with shared bath/toilet which we were aware of when booking. The room was larger than expected and very clean, staff friendly and smartly dressed. Breakfast was full English serve yourself to an... More

Thanks to booking.com we got a late and really good deal...........read previous reviews prior to booking and decided the positives far out-weighed any negatives. We stayed in the annex and shared bathrooms......just once in the 3 night stay was the nearest bathroom engaged and I had to use one of the other 3 available. The main hotel and the grounds... More
