Friendly and welcoming staff, and the food not bad at all - both these well above expectations for a smallish hotel. The room was poor however: we stayed as a couple and were put in a modestly sized family room with small double bed and pair of bunk beds. Very thin mattress on hard base. En suite bathroom smelled very... More

We were given a room in the annex building. It was very basic, a cold room with no TV due to the wafer thin walls, a very shabby shared toilet and bathroom. Sink in the bedroom had a dripping tap, the sash window was jammed open. A thoroughly gloomy and unpleasant place. I would not recommend staying here even if... More

We took our 1 year old son down for the night whilst my husband visited the Mary St Ottery festival. The Manageress went out of her way to find us a taxi to the event even though almost all were pre-booked for this busy evening. The pool is lovely - a great bonus for my toddler. Breakfast is very good,... More

From the outside Sidholme Hotel looked nice ! £103 for dinner bed & breakfast not as pricey as seafront hotels ! Room was so shockingly basic ! A twin bedded room which I was intending to share with my Mother. Near the kitchen in one of a few annexes. Not in main hotel. The room smelt of cooking! Could not... More

It's well situated for a short stroll into Sidmouth, passing the best restaurants on the way :) - the building and grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and the swimming pool a real bonus. I had my reservations about it being a Christian retreat, but that is very much in the background; whilst you might expect a hotel of this size... More

I have mixed feelings about Sidholme hotel. I was aware that it was a Christian foundation hotel and from previous reports there were honest descriptions of the decor so it's best if I summarise the pros and cons. Pros Lovely location. A nice stroll into Sidmouth will take you no more than 10 - 15 minutes depending on mobility. (And... More

The service from all staff was excellent and the atmosphere of the hotel very relaxing. The breakfast was excellent, can't comment on evening meals as we decided to eat out. The hotel is ideally placed for walking into Sidmouth, which is a lovely place. If staying in at the hotel the grounds are pretty, the lounges relaxing and the swimming... More

The main hotel is a charming old building said to be from the 1830s. It is fine-looking on the outside and full of character on the inside, with plenty of old wooden features such as the internal balcony-like structures overhanging the hall at first floor level, and doors hidden in wooden panels, as well as old wooden furniture in the...
