Just got back from a short break. Lovely place! Wonderful building , friendly staff , warm swimming pool , stunning gardens, amazing value. Just a short walk to town can't recommend highly enough we will return as soon as possible.

Along with 40 others from Fleet Methdoist we just spent a superb weekend at Sidholme and as a home from home I cannot recommend it highly enough... Great value for groups too. We loved the food, the service, the fabulous facilities and the swimming pool which was warmer than the Caribbean!

Booked this hotel on Booking.com without knowing it was a Christian retreat. It was the beautiful grounds that interested me plus the grand Victorian building. My daughter and I arrived very late and crept into our room, which was large with ornate stained glass windows and office space plus en suite facilities. The view in the morning was stunning from... Sidholme is about a ten minute walk from the sea front but for anyone not wishing to walk there are frequent buses passing by. I stayed there with a group for a weekend and we received a very courteous and friendly welcome. The house is full of character and situated in a quiet location, surrounded by lovely gardens. I had... More

This is a beautiful place to stay. No noise, no traffic, beautiful grounds, heated pool. We stayed in the annex at this hotel, which is set up like a hostel. Three bathrooms close to our room, which we shared. The main building is a hotel with ensuits. The price was the cheapest we found during our trip through the UK.... More

My mum decided she wanted the family to come down here for her birthday, and booked this hotel as all the others were fully booked. Reading some of the reviews on here about this hotel had me extremely worried as I didn't want her birthday to be ruined by bad hospitality. But to be honest I can't really complain about... More

We booked a double room literally days before going and I wasn't expecting anything special as it was so reasonably priced . I was amazed to find it was a lovely place with character and charm and a nice atmosphere .The garden and grounds are lovely it feels like your in the middle of a woodland . The room was... More

I have visited Sidmouth with my bf last weekend and as it was quite a spontaneous trip, we haven't prebooked a hotel. As we sat on the beach we looked at almost every place and not only were they all fully booked but quite expensive as well. Then I came across this little hotel 5 min walk from city centre...... Our last minute decision found us booking two nights here in an autumn spell of excellent weather. Sidholme was built for the Earl of Buckingham in 1826, and remained a private house in distinguished ownership into the mid-20th century. It was then acquired by the conference/hospitality arm of the Methodist church, and is now one of five such institutions in... More

This is a quirky kind of place run by the Christian Guild. Guests tend to be older and are often single travellers who appreciate conversation over breakfast/dinner. I enjoyed meeting and talking to other guests but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. They don't charge a single supplement so this can be a good choice for lone travellers,... More
