Yes, this is an old-fashioned place, more suited to the older generation, who appreciate breakfast being served by a waiter. Food was very good, if rather conservative (the home-made yoghurt at breakfast was delicious) though the vegetables were rather repetitive, and the meat and fish were over rather than under-cooked. We have Just returned from a two night stay in this very comfy 2 star hotel - we stayed here over 20 years ago which was nothing like our recent stay! The room was pretty small but beautifully decorated, extremely clean, loads of cushions, comfy bed and beautiful curtains. The walk in shower room was immaculate & up to date... More

Booked this hotel last minute. Immaculately decorated but old fashioned wallpaper and carpet. Long time since I have had sheets and blankets on my bed! Great location with car parking with putting on the front lawn. Good quality breakfast with friendly service. Felt very young in the dining room at breakfast.

We stay at the Mount Pleasant Hotel for over a week every year. We have just returned from our 7th visit and we always thoroughly enjoy our stay. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and tidy. The food is excellent. Mr Gleave, his family and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The Mount Pleasant Hotel is set in its own grounds (I... More

My wife and I have been going to Mount Pleasant for quite a few years now and we think it's one of the best small hotels in the country. You receive a very warm welcome from Mr Gleave and his very friendly staff. The bedrooms, dining room and lounge are spotlessly clean and the food is of a very high... More
